It was a weekend to remember for Van Amersfoort Racing, as the Dutch squad celebrated its 50th anniversary in style with a commanding one-two finish on home soil in Race 2 of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine.

Freddie Slater delivered a commanding performance in the opening race of the weekend at Zandvoort, securing his second victory of the season in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine. The Prema Racing driver executed a textbook start, overtaking pole-sitter Pedro Clerot (Van Amersfoort Racing) with a decisive move and controlling the race from start to finish. His strong pace and confidence with the car confirmed his excellent form as he crossed the line first on the Dutch circuit.

Freddie Slater set the pace in the second Collective Test of the day at Zandvoort, clocking the fastest lap of the session and of the entire day, with a time of 1:30.306. The British driver, representing Prema Racing, confirmed his form on the Dutch circuit by edging out Enzo Deligny (R-ace GP), who had topped Thursday’s afternoon session and ended just 0.123 seconds behind.

On a dry track and under steady winds sweeping across the Dutch circuit, championship leader Matteo De Palo topped the timesheets. Evan Giltaire (ART Grand Prix) sealed his second career win in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine by triumphing in Race 2 at Misano, following his second-place finish in Race 1. The French driver now leads the championship standings after a commanding performance on Sunday afternoon.

It was a memorable day at Misano for Trident Motorsport, as Matteo De Palo secured the team’s first-ever victory in the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine. The Italian driver delivered a commanding performance, building his win from a strong qualifying session earlier in the morning, which earned him a front-row start alongside pole-sitter Freddie Slater (Prema Racing).

Rafael Camara, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Dino Beganovic, and before them Grégoire Saucy, Formula Regional builds champions. A quick look at the series’ roll of honour reveals a growing legacy of excellence, with many former drivers now competing in Formula 1, including Antonelli, Isack Hadjar, and Gabriel Bortoleto. Co-organised by ACI Sport and Alpine Racing since 2021, the championship now enters its fifth season, kicking off this weekend at Misano, an all-new venue for the series, with a 26-car grid representing ten teams.
 

Hillspeed’s Freddie Slater maintained his early GB3 Championship lead with another stunning victory on Sunday at Silverstone. From pole position, the British driver led every lap of the second contest, and was on course to win by over 10 seconds, only for a late safety car to wipe out his advantage. Meanwhile, series returnee Will Macintyre claimed his first win of the year for Elite Motorsport in the reverse grid final race. Slater holds a 15-point lead at the top of the standings over JHR’s Noah Lisle, with Nikita Johnson third for Hitech after a strong weekend of his own. 

Hillspeed’s Freddie Slater was the driver to beat as the GB3 Championship’s new era began in style at Silverstone on Saturday. 

The final afternoon session at Circuit Paul Ricard brought two productive days of pre-season collective testing to a close for the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine. Under sunny skies, Hiyu Yamakoshi (Van Amersfoort Racing) topped the timesheets with a best lap of 1:57.470, confirming the Japanese driver’s strong form ahead of the championship’s fifth season.

Freddie Slater, one of the UK’s most highly rated and hotly tipped racing drivers for a potential future in Formula One, will contest selected rounds of the GB3 Championship this year with Hillspeed.

The Italian F.4 Championship officially concluded with the third race at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza. Putting the final seal on the season was Australian driver Gianmarco Pradel, representing US Racing, who achieved his first victory by overtaking poleman Freddie Slater in a highly challenging race. Pradel was rewarded with the win after a weekend that presented him with some difficulties in the previous two races, but he skillfully seized the opportunity with a spectacular pass, closing out the year in the best possible way.

At the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, Freddie Slater continues to rack up victories, feeding his absolute record in the Italian F.4 Championship. With his second victory of the weekend, the British driver from Prema Racing now reaches a total of 15 wins.

The first day of the ACI Racing Weekend at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza has concluded, with the excitement already building for the qualifying sessions of the final round of the Italian F.4 Championship. At the end of the two sessions, the polemen for the last weekend of the 2024 season are Jack Beeton, the Australian driver from US Racing, who will start from first position in Race 1, and Freddie Slater, the English driver from Prema Racing, who will, in turn, start at the front in Races 2 and 3.

The 16-year-old British sensation joined PREMA’s Formula 4 operation in late 2023, with impressive runs in his first two F4 outings, and after an incredibly successful season, he will now step up to the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine.
