Their Tony Kart Racer 401 RR scores four victories out of four races in this beginning of the 2022 international season. The last triumph in chronological order comes on the occasion of the third round of the WSK Super Master Series, held on the International La Conca Circuit, with Joseph Turney, in the OK category.
The winning streak of the Tony Kart Racing Team continues in the WSK Super Master Series. For the third time in a row, on the occasion of the third round in Muro Leccese, the Tony Kart Racer 401 RR hits the victory in the OK category, powered as usual by the DST engine of Vortex, the engine division of the OTK Kart Group. If we add the triumph in the KZ2 class obtained at the Champions of the Future Winter Series, the victories become four out of four races of the 2022 international calendar. In addition to the "Senior" class, also the OKJ and MINI classes are the protagonists of the weekend in Muro Leccese (Italy), with the pairs Tony Kart Racer 401 RR - Vortex DJT and the Tony Kart Rookie - Vortex MCX on track.
Joseph Turney is the architect of their team's third triumph in OK class. The British driver, taking full advantage of his experience in the category and of the asphalt made slippery by the Friday and Saturday rainfalls, goes in the top positions of the general classification at the end of the qualifying heats, especially thanks to a victory, two podiums and two fast laps. Everything changes on Sunday, with the sun coming through the clouds, but not the affecting the performance of Turney: from the front row, in the final he makes a perfect jump and, in the second half of the race, he signs the winning blow with an overtaking on the leader of the race, showing off the virtuousness of the OTK Kart Group material both in wet and dry conditions. Turney flies straight towards the victory and, with the points obtained, becomes the new leader of the championship. Hard weekend for Tuukka Taponen and Luigi Coluccio, despite the positive results in the eliminatory and qualifying heats. Due to a collision in the pre-final with another driver, Taponen ruins his position in the general classification and, in the middle of the group during the final, he cannot express his full potential. Coluccio, on the other hand, has a good chance to play for a good ranking in the final, but as soon as he runs seventh, he has to stop. With one round to go, the Finnish and the Italian drivers are in second and fifth position respectively in the championship.
Increasingly at ease in the category, James Egozi scores positive performances, finishing third in the pre-final. Unfortunately, the American does not start the final. Liu Ruiqi is also collecting good results, recovering 8 positions in the final, while Oscar Wurz makes his season debut with their colours and easily reaches the final race of the weekend.
Good feelings also in OKJ category with Jan Przyrowski and Jimmy Helias. The Polish driver gets two wins and a fast lap during the qualifying heats, which were tricky because of the wet track, while the French driver is the author of a second place in the pre-final. Their two drivers, however, find several obstacles in the final and do not finish the race. Not much luck also for Enzo Tarnvanichkul, on the starting grid of the final, but retired. Alp Hasan Aksoy grinds kilometres and recovers several positions during the whole weekend, while Giacomo Pedrini and Maria Germano Neto continue their apprenticeship within the Tony Kart Racing Team.
In the MINI class, Vladimir Ivannikov distinguishes thanks to a comeback of not less than 24 positions between eliminatory and qualifying heats and in the final, he manages to enter the top 15. Ethan Lennon climbs several positions in the qualifying heats and lays solid basis for the future seasonal engagements.
The Tony Kart Racing Team stays in the south of Italy: from March 10th-13th, their platoon of drivers will be on track at the Naples International Circuit for the fourth and last round of the WSK Super Master Series, reserved to the KZ2, OK, OKJ and MINI categories.
