Caitlyn McDaniel joins Fox Motorsport to complete 25-car GB4 grid for Donington Park season opener

Fox Motorsport has confirmed Caitlyn McDaniel as the second member of the team’s GB4 Championship line-up as the series gears up to begin its all-new era this weekend at Donington Park. The London-based American will make her car-racing debut alongside team-mate Holly Miall on Saturday in what is the team’s first all-female line-up.

Fox, from Maldon, Essex, have been one of the front-running teams in GB4 since winning on their debut weekend at Oulton Park in 2023. Liam McNeilly finished third in the Drivers’ Championship that season with Branden Templeton fourth in 2024. Born in Virginia, USA, Caitlyn and her family have been based in London for the past four years, leading to her taking up karting in the all-female Jamie Chadwick Series last April.

A regular top-six finisher by the end of the season, she sampled Fox Motorsport’s 2024-spec Tatuus F4-T014 single-seater at a wet Snetterton in November and has since increased her test mileage in the new Tatuus MSV GB4-025 car.

An extra incentive for the 17-year-old is the £50,000 prize that will be awarded by series promoter MotorSport Vision to the highest-placed female driver in the standings, to be put towards a drive in the female-only F1 Academy Series that supports Formula 1 Grands Prix globally.

Caitlyn McDaniel said: “I’m really excited to start my single-seater career with Fox Motorsport this weekend. GB4 is a fantastic entry point for a driver my age who wants to learn and develop in a closely-matched field against a lot of drivers with a similar level of car-racing experience. Our original plan had been to test here and then race from Oulton Park, but after Thursday's testing we felt it would benefit me to be in the car all weekend and really learn how the GB4 event works from start to finish. We’ll be taking things one step at a time and aiming to move up the order as the season progresses and develop my racecraft.”

Paul McNeilly, Team Principal, said: “We’re delighted to bring Caitlyn into the GB4 race team for the full season to join Holly. She’s done very well in testing when you consider she’s started from absolute zero and hadn’t even sat in a go-kart this time last year. Even from the Media Day test to today she’s gained seconds a lap on some of the other drivers. There’s obviously a lot to learn, but she seems to have adapted well to the preparation work we’ve done together so we have a lot of confidence that she achieve some good results as the season goes on and her experience grows.”
