Another double win ensured GB4 runner-up Cooper Webster secured the Indian F4 title last weekend in Chennai.
Having won six of the 11 races held before the season finale at the Madras International Circuit, the Australian held a commanding position at the top of the standings, simply needing to register a string of decent results across the four races to wrap up proceedings.
But he dominated once more, claiming two pole positions, by 1.1 and 1.5 seconds respectively, and then won the first encounter almost 12 seconds clear of Akshay Bohra. He then placed third in the reversed grid second race, before securing the title with his eighth win of the series, nearly 13 seconds clear of Bohra again, and then completed his campaign with fifth place in race four.
Webster ultimately finished 62.5 points clear of his nearest opposition, with eight wins from 15 races. As a further demonstration of his speed, he also claimed five pole positions and seven fastest laps.
“The day my first race car championship was sealed. I sat tight and kept it clean in the reverse grid races and gunned for gold in race three” he said. “I finished off the championship with multiple records including most wins, poles and biggest race win gap. “Time to head home, reflect on what has been a hectic entire year and come back recharged for a new challenge in 2024.”
Webster’s title adds to his runner-up spot in GB4, and his third-place finish in the S5000 category in Australia. He will race in the Eurocup 3 series next season.
