On the occasion of the fourth round of the Champions of the Future Euro Series at Kristianstad, their Tony Kart Racer 401 RR finishes third in the OKJ category final, thanks to the performance of Scott Marsh.
Tony Kart Racing Team's Champions of the Future Euro Series continues with another outstanding result. The Tony Kart Racer 401 RR, powered by the Vortex VTJ, gains the podium in the OKJ category final at Kristianstad (Sweden), venue of the fourth round (out of five) of the championship. The ‘Racer’ also attends the OK competitions, powered by the VTS engine of the OTK Kart Group's ‘engine division’.
In OKJ class, it is Joel Pohjola and Scott Marsh who are their main representatives throughout the weekend. The Finnish driver, winner already in the second round of the championship in France, sets the third-best time in group 1 of the timed practice sessions and collects a victory and two second places in the qualifying heats; however, in the last heat scheduled, he is forced to retire, despite setting the fastest lap of the race. The British driver, on the other hand, achieves a win and a third place, as well as three top-5s, in the qualifying heats and, after his first place in Saturday morning's A Super Heat, gains fourth position in the overall standings.
From the outside line, Marsh jumps well at the start of the final, keeping his starting position and, a few laps after, running in second place. Without making any mistakes and handling the final stages of the race perfectly, he passes third under the chequered flag. Pohjola is involved in the tussle for the top-10 for a long time and takes the eighth place overall.
Ilie Tristan Crisan is once more very fast in the qualifyings, finishing second (by just 8 thousandths) in Group 2. The Canadian driver shines in the qualifying heats gaining the third place as his best result, and finishing fifth in the B Super Heat, while in the final he narrowly misses the top-10. Oliver Rasmussen scores a top-3 in the eliminatory heats, but a collision in the middle of the final does not allow him to collect as much as he had hoped. Unluckier is Thomas Pradier, put out of the running on the opening lap by an accident, after an excellent performance over the weekend. Augustus Toniolo grinds out kilometres in view of the next scheduled commitments.
In OK class, David Walther performs well in the qualifying heats, where he collects four top-5 positions out of five races and a third place in the B Super Heat. The Danish driver also shows all his experience in the final, ending in sixth place. Four top ten finishes in the eliminatory heats and a sixth place in the B Super Heat are the results for Tiziano Monza, who attends the Saturday afternoon's final. A pity, however, for Xavier Avramides, who qualifies for the final but is forced to raise the white flag halfway through the race.
The apprenticeship in Europe of the American driver Nash Blake goes on, always obtaining good chrono results. Maria Germano Neto makes her Senior debut, while Kai Hunter makes his debut in their official colours. Tom Leuillet, who is normally involved with their sports division in the shifter category, also finds a place in the category.
The Tony Kart Racing Team will be back on track in Kristianstad, Sweden, in two weeks’ time (August 1st – 4th), on the occasion of the fourth and last round of the FIA Karting European Championship for OK-OKJ classes.
