Tony Kart begins 2025 in Muro Leccese with a podium

On the occasion of the first round of the WSK Super Master Series, the Tony Kart Racing Team gains the second place in KZ2 class with the official driver Marijn Kremers at the wheel of the new Tony Kart Racer 401 T chassis.

With the first round of the WSK Super Master Series at the World Circuit La Conca, Italy, the new sporting season of the Tony Kart Racing Team is beginning. In Muro Leccese, the new Tony Kart Racer 401 T conquers the place of honour in the KZ2 class, also thanks to the performance of the Vortex VTZ engine, OTK Kart Group’s engine division. The newly homologated chassis of the company from Prevalle also takes part in the OK and OKJ category races, with the Vortex VTS and VTJ respectively, while the Tony Kart Rookie competes in the MINI Gr.3 with the VTM engine.

In KZ2, Marijn Kremers is soon one of the main protagonists of the category. The Dutch driver sets the absolute third best time in Friday morning's qualifying practice and, in the subsequent qualifying heats, collects a win, a second and a third place. Thanks to these results, Kremers attends the Sunday afternoon's final starting from the second row on the grid and, as soon as the lights go off, he steadily runs in third position. On the third lap, their driver climbs to second place and runs for victory until the end of the race.

Tom Leuillet also takes a place at the top of the ranking during the weekend, but an unlucky third heat and a stop in the final prevents him from finishing the competition in Muro Leccese in the best possible way.

In OKJ class, after the podium obtained on the occasion of the last round of the WSK Final Cup last season, Ilie Tristan Crisan starts the 2025 season still at the top. The Canadian driver, who sets as second fastest driver of group 2 in the qualifyings, leads the scene in the qualifying heats and in the pre-final, recording four victories and four fastest laps out of four races run. In the final, Crisan perfectly jumps from the pole position and leads the group: it is a pity that in the very last laps, he gets involved in the tussle for victory which relegates him out of the podium. With the fourth final place, their driver momentarily occupies the second position in the championship standings.

Making his absolute debut in the category, Julian Frasnelli immediately shows off his driving skills with an excellent third best time in the chrono practices, two third places in the qualifying heats and a solid top-10 place in Sunday afternoon's final, achieved by gaining six positions than the starting grid. With twice fourth positions in the three eliminatory heats scheduled, Augustus Toniolo finishes the final ranked among the top ten, just behind his teammate Frasnelli. Oliveri Sini is the fourth Racing Team driver classified at the end of the final, after starting the weekend with the third fastest time in Group 1 of the qualifying heats. Henri Kumpen and Nikita Ljubimov are also attending the final, with the Belgian author of a seven-position comeback and the Estonian, unlucky, forced to end his race prematurely.

In OK class, Jindřich Pešl leads their group in the Senior class, with a third best result in the qualifying heat and a solid top-10 in the final, before receiving a five-second penalty for an improperly positioned front fairing. Consistent results reward Oliver Rasmussen, who improves throughout the weekend, and Gustaw Wiśniewski, in his first race with their official colours. The final also sees their driver Thomas Pradier lined up at the starting grid.

In the MINI Gr.3 class, Jean Poujol starts with the second best time in his qualifying session and runs towards a win, a third place and a fastest lap in the qualifying heats. A stop in pre-final B slows down the French driver’s progress, who, despite the difficulties, fights until the last few metres of the final for a top-5 finish. It is a positive debut for Victor Thomas Gorun, able to gain the third place and a fast lap in the pre-final A and comes very close to a top-10 finish in the final. Andrea Iannone, Linghan Li and Henri Möhring are also present at the starting grid of the last race of the weekend. Tiberius Müller and Miguel Enrique Manzano Suarez, are running useful kilometres to gain experience in view of the next scheduled events.

The next round of the WSK Super Master Series is scheduled in two weeks (6th–9th  February) at the International Circuit of Naples, in Sarno. The Tony Kart Racing Team will take part with its official drivers in the KZ2, OK, OKJ and MINI Gr.3 categories.
