The first on-track challenges in the road to the victory of the WSK Super Master Series started in Lonato

The first challenges on track among the record 351 verified drivers have taken place in qualifying practice and heats ahead of the second round of the WSK Super Master Series that is underway at the South Garda Karting circuit of Lonato.

The first interesting battles on track among the protagonists of the second round of the WSK Super Master Series have started. This event set a historic record of participation in this important international karting series. In fact, 351 drivers passed scrutineering: 108 in MINI, 90 in OKJ, 60 in OK and 93 in KZ2. Overall, 55 Nations are represented, covering all 5 Continents.

Among the most important figures, MINI counts a very high number of drivers on track: 108 baby-drivers aged between 8 and 12 from gathered in Lonato from 41 Countries. This confirms WSK as the ideal setting for practicing competitive karting for the very young drivers of all the world.

 

The first highs in qualifying of the WSK Super Master Series Round 2: the pole positions went to Denner (KZ2), Ferreira (OK), Fluxa Cross (OKJ) and Vibriantis (OKJ).

KZ2. The best time of qualifying practice in KZ2 was posted in Session-1 by the French Emilien Denner (Sodikart/Sodi-TM Racing-Vega), who completed his best lap after 45.272s. He was followed in the leaderboard by his teammate from Holland Senna Van Walstijn, who won the opener held last January 30th. He posted in fact the fastest lap of Session-2 in 45.576s, while the Italian Lorenzo Travisanutto (Parolin Motorsport/Parolin-TM Racing) led the charts of Session-3 with a best time of 45.728s.

OK. The quickest overall of the two Sessions of OK was the Brazilian Matheus Ferreira (KR Motorsport/KR-Iame-LeCont) as he posted a 45.989s in the first Session. The Italian Luigi Coluccio (Tony Kart Racing Team/Tony Kart-Vortex) – who won the opening race – came to the fore in the second session completing his fastest lap in 45.998s.

OKJ. Three Sessions have been held in OK-Junior. The Spanish driver Lucas Fluxa Cross (KR Motorsport/KR-Iame-Vega) was the quickest of all in 47.584s, time that he posted in the first Session. On the timeboard he was followed by the teammate from Belgium Douwe Dedecker, who went quickest in Session-3 (47.657s). The Swiss driver Enea Frey (Ricky Flynn/LN-Vortex) led the pack in Session-2 with a best time of 47.715s. The winner of the opening round René Lammers (Parolin Motorsport/Parolin-TM Racing-Vega) lagged a bit behind, the Dutch driver posted in fact only the 10th time in Session-1.

MINI. Four sessions took place also in MINI where new names came to the fore, like Lithuania’s Ainis Vibriantis (Energy Corse/Energy-TM Racing-Vega), who was the quickest of all with a time of 52.369 posted in Session-4. The Brit Roman Kamyab (BabyRace/Parolin-Iame) topped the charts of Session-3 with a best time of 52.388s, while the Romanian Bogdan Cosma-Cristofor (Gulstar Racing/KR-Iame) did the same in Session-2 in 52.684s and the Italian Filippo Sala (Team Driver/KR-Iame) alike in Session-1. The winner of the previous round, the Belgian Dries Van Langendonck (Parolin Motorsport/Parolin-TM Racing) came third in Session-3 and was ninth overall.

The first 18 qualifying heats took place on Friday afternoon. Heats will continue throughout Saturday with 28 more races. The final stages will be on Sunday, February 13th with the two Prefinals of each category starting at 10.40 and the 4 decisive Finals from 14.20 with Live Streaming coverage.
