On Sunday morning, the Super Heats had already given a glimpse of the competition at Wackersdorf. But that was nothing compared to the afternoon's Finals, which produced a breathtaking spectacle with many unexpected twists and turns. At the end of a memorable FIA Karting competition, Italy's Paolo Ippolito was crowned KZ World Champion, Germany's Niels Tröger won the KZ2 World Cup and Italy's Davide Forè added the FIA Karting International Super Cup - KZ2 Masters to his impressive list of honours.

The DKM traveled to Genk in Belgium at the weekend for the second round. For many years now, the circuit has provided a great backdrop for the categories of Germany's highest kart racing series and there was plenty on offer again this time. New winners stood on the podium. In the supporting programme, the Mini 60 Series by Chrono Karting provided a lot of fun.

In all categories, the Birel ART-TM Racing teams performed extremely well on the Le Mans circuit in the major World meeting for the gearbox categories. The Italian Cristian Bertuca achieved the best result of the team by taking the second step of the podium in the KZ2 World Cup. The changing skies at Le Mans contributed to several unexpected developments in the Qualifying Heats of the Mondokart.com FIA Karting event currently taking place in the Sarthe region of France. A succession of brief showers on Saturday morning did not help all of the competitors. However, the verdict is in. Simo Puhakka (FIN) took the lead in KZ. Arthur Carbonnel (FRA) took the top position in KZ2. Jeroen Bos (NLD) remained the leader of the KZ2 Masters, while Mark Dubnitski (EST) took the lead in the FIA Karting Academy Trophy at the last moment.

The first round of the FIA Karting European Championship - KZ & KZ2, as well as the FIA Karting Academy Trophy, benefited from ideal conditions during Qualifying Practice on the afternoon of Friday 13th May in Belgium. Sunny skies and a pleasant temperature close to 20° made for a high quality and very sporting confrontation on the Genk circuit. David Trefilov (DEU) in KZ2, Guillaume Bouzar (LUX) in Academy and Emilien Denner (FRA) in KZ managed their sessions perfectly to take the three pole positions of the day.

It was the big finale of the German Kart Championship this season. 149 drivers from all over the world started on the Schweppermannring in Ampfing and fought for the coveted victories in very mixed weather. The championship titles finally went to Harry Thompson (DKM), Robert De Haan (DJKM), Stan Pex (DSKM) and Senna Van Walstijn (DSKC).
