The opening round of the WSK Super Master Series will take place next January 21-25 at the International Circuit La Conca in Muro Leccese. Over 300 drivers are in the provisional entry list.

There had already been a number of surprises, with new names coming to the fore and some top drivers performing relatively poorly. Apparently, it wasn't easy to get the right setup during Qualifying. While the pole position for Spaniard Christian Costoya (ESP) in OK-Junior was in line with expectations, that of Estonian Mark Dubnitski in OK was more surprising.

In Germany, the 1190 m long Pro Kart Raceland circuit from the Qualifying sessions showed that the Wackersdorf competition was going to prove formidable. Under sunny skies but with reasonable temperatures, three polemen were rewarded on the morning of Friday 8th September: Émilien Denner (FRA) in KZ, Maksim Orlov in KZ2 and Mirko Mizzoni (ITA) in KZ2 Masters.

In relatively hot weather, the final day of the Italian round at Cremona saw Dutchman Rene Lammers win the FIA Karting European Championship - OK, while Ukrainian Oleksandr Bondarev took victory in the FIA European Karting Championship - Junior. Spaniard Hugo Marti was the overall winner of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy.
