Drawing on the lessons of his first season in OK-Junior, Suleiman Zanfari is changing his strategy for 2018. He chose to race with the Lotus Racing Karts team who he knows well and that he knows will to dedicate themselves entirely to him. Surrounded by highly valued technicians, he will use Tony Kart chassis with Vortex engines.
The 12-year-old Moroccan driver, Suleiman competed in 60 Mini and Rotax Mini Max classes before going on to discover the OK-Junior international class in 2017. Suleiman also had the opportunity to make an impact in the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy under the colours of Morocco. Very positive, the results of his first immersion at the highest level of karting allowed his entourage to refine its strategy for the years to come.
In 2018, Suleiman will focus on the three flagship competitions of the Junior season. He will tackle the CIK-FIA Academy Trophy more assertively and will also compete in the CIK-FIA European Championship and the World Championship, in the OK-Junior category. Aware of the importance of fitness, he reinforced his winter training programme with the Campos Academy to arrive at Location for the Winter Cup with every possible resource, the first event of his programme. In light of his experience in 2017, Suleiman chose to trust Lotus Racing Karts. The understanding between the driver and the team’s manager, Domen Jerancic, has already proven itself in the past. Suleiman will be coached as in 2017 by Karol Basz, a seasoned driver and skilled advisor. For the technical part, the excellent Gabriele Bassetta will be joined by another top mechanic, Nicola Boscaini.
Motivated as ever, with good experience and physically sharpened, Suleiman approaches the year to come with new ambitions. Well looked after in all aspects, he will be able to aim for victory in 2018.
