PREMA Powerteam is set to line up for the second round of the 2021 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine this weekend at Barcelona. Coming from a positive debut at Imola, with one win and a second place in the two races, the team is determined to put everything together on Spanish soil and see all three drivers running consistently at the front.
PREMA is leading the team championship heading into round 2, with David Vidales and Paul Aron running second and third in driver points respectively. The 19-year old Spaniard will run at his home venue and will be particularly motivated to keep rivals at bay, starting from his 17-year-old Estonian teammate. However, competition in the European Championship is fierce, and many high-profile racers will be vying for the podium. The list includes 17-year-old Swede Dino Beganovic, who showed impressive speed despite paying the price of inexperience at Imola.
Home to the Spanish Grand Prix this weekend, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will feature its signature new layout for turn 10, an update over the past seasons. Drivers already had the chance to try the new section in preseason testing, and they are ready for the two-race event ahead.
René Rosin - Team Principal: "The whole team is looking forward to going back on-track at Barcelona. We showed some clear potential in the opening round at Imola, and lining-up on another track that hosted preseason testing, we are confident we can keep up the pace. We were thrilled to score one win in round 1 with Vidales, but Aron was equally impressive throughout the weekend and, despite being a rookie, Beganovic was not far at all from being a contender. We aim for a clean and smooth weekend to maximize our work and see how it ends up."
