Paraguayan Joshua Dürksen will step up to Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine on a full-time basis in 2022, joining Mexican rookie Noel Leon at Arden Motorsport.
The 18-year-old driver participated in the Italian and German Formula 4 where he won several races in mythical circuits such as Nürburgring, Hockenheim, Red Bull Ring, Mugello among others. He also won many races in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, which made him become F4 UAE Vice-Champion.
Additionally, he became the first Paraguayan driver in history to make a podium in his first race in a Formula 3 car, winning the Rookie category and taking 3rd place in Hungary in the Euroformula category.
Joshua Dürksen – Arden FRECA driver
“I am very happy to be taking a step forward in my career with the Arden Motorsport team. Competing in this category is a new opportunity to advance my personal long-term project road to F1 and I think we took the right step since the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine is a very competitive category where I will race on incredible circuits like Spa Francorchamps and Monaco. It is also very special for me since I will be taking with me the Paraguayan flag to unique and new places. It will be historic for my country and a great pride for myself. I will do everything in my power to meet the expectations for all the support I am receiving from the fans, which excites and inspires me to do my best in this very special year. I would like to thank God, my family, my team, and my fans for making this a reality.”
Ben Salter – Arden FRECA Team Principal
“It’s fantastic to secure a driver of Joshua’s quality for the 2022 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine season ahead. We’ve monitored his progress for some time now in the lower categories, particularly Formula 4 where he excelled. It was obvious when he first drove the FRECA car that it suited his driving style and we’re looking forward to working with him to take that next step forward this year. He slots nicely into our line-up alongside Noel Leon and I’m sure they will put us in a good position for the season ahead.”
