Red Bull Junior driver Oliver Goethe was supposed to arrive at Monza for the final round of the 2024 FIA F3 championship as a title contender, but a sudden turn of events provided the young German with an opportunity he couldn’t miss.
Due to fellow Bullet Athlete Franco Colapinto’s F1 promotion, one of the FIA F2 seats at MP Motorsport became available for the remaining 4 rounds of the season. Oliver, who has been competing in his second full FIA F3 campaign this year, grabbed the opportunity with both hands.
Goethe had a strong run in the 2024 FIA F3 season with Campos Racing. He claimed a win in Imola, two further podium finishes and had a 12-race point-scoring streak that kept him in the title fight until the very end. Unfortunately, his promotion to FIA F2 means an early end to his F3 season. The 19-year-old German isn’t new to MP Motorsport. He raced with the Dutch outfit in Spanish F4 (2021) and in FRECA (2022).
Ollie has a steep hill to climb, joining the FIA F2 grid 10 rounds into the season, without any previous experience in the new Formula 2 car but the Red Bull Junior driver is ready for the challenge ahead. Following the Monza round, FIA F2 will move to Baku and Qatar with the season finale to take place at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, three brand new circuits for Oliver to explore.

“I am very excited to race in Formula 2 this weekend and for the remainder of the season. It’s such an amazing opportunity and I am looking forward to working with MP Motorsport again. Although I haven’t got any experience in this F2 car, the two seasons I spent in FIA F3 gave me a great foundation for this step.
My goals for this weekend are to soak up all the information MP Motorsport provides me with and learn as much as I can. It won’t be easy even on a track I know well because all my competitors have so much more experience than me and I got the call so late that I didn’t have a chance to do simulator prep for F2, but in some way, this is similar to my FIA F3 debut in 2022, where I joined the series mid-season and scored points on my first attempt.
