The 'prime' tyres developed by the manufacturer LeCont continue to delight drivers and teams. Throughout the season, the WSK Promotion protagonists in OK took advantage of LeCont's performance and this was once again the case in Lonato for the opening round of the WSK Final Cup. This time, the KZ2 category was also equipped with tyres from the Rovereto factory, as in the Open Series. The pole position achieved by Germany's David Trefilov with a sensational time of 44"961 testifies to the outstanding qualities of the Italian tyres.
121 drivers using LeCont at the WSK Final Cup
With more than 380 drivers taking part in the South Garda Karting, the WSK Promotion series is undoubtedly a must at international level, and LeCont as a manufacturer continues to value its partnership with Luca De Donno's team, which has lasted for several years now. From 7th to 10th November, the show was non-stop, especially in OK and KZ2 with 71 drivers in OK and 50 in KZ2 respectively.
44"961 in KZ2 and 45"768 in OK!
A quick look at the live timing or the team stopwatches confirmed the ability of the KZ2 drivers to set impressive times, rarely achieved this season in Lonato. David Trefilov set a time of 44"961 at an average speed of over 96 km/h in Qualifying, setting a new record for the famous Italian circuit. In the final Qualifying heat on Saturday evening, Markus Kajak was still able to lap in 45"469 on tyres used since Friday. The following day, Emilien Denner set the fastest lap of the Final in 45"371, while almost all the finalists who took the chequered flag were within 5 tenths of that time. Clear proof of the perfect balance between performance and consistency so important to LeCont.
We saw the same situation in OK, with pole position for Sebastiano Pavan in 45"768, a time of 46"314 for Christian Costoya on used tyres at the end of the Qualifying Heats and a fastest lap for Pavan in 46"219 in the Final. Significant performances, especially in autumn temperatures!
High-level finals with LeCont
"Compared to some of the tyres we have used this season in KZ2, LeCont offers truly exceptional grip and driving pleasure," was the comment from the paddock. This was reflected on the track with countless passes and suspense, notably between Italian Cristian Bertuca and German David Trefilov. It wasn't until the end of the race that Estonian Markus Kajak took the top step of the podium, with Czech Marek Skrivan and Italian Alessio Piccini at his side.
In OK, Italy's Sebastiano Pavan spared no effort to catch Belgium's Dries Van Langendonck and take the lead shortly before the finish. Great Britain's Zac Drummond completed the podium. LeCont congratulates all the drivers in the OK and KZ2 categories, and looks forward to seeing them at the final event from 20th to 24th November in Cremona.
