Matteo De Palo tops the times in Barcelona afternoon session

The Barcelona sun returned for the afternoon session of the FRECA opening pre-season test, offering teams and drivers ideal conditions to continue fine-tuning their setups and gathering valuable data ahead of the 2025 campaign.

At the top of the timesheets was Matteo De Palo (Trident), who clocked the best lap of the afternoon and the fastest of the day overall, with an impressive time of 1:36.475. The Italian driver led a tightly packed field where the top ten were separated by just over six-tenths of a second.

Enzo Deligny and Jin Nakamura, both representing R-ace GP, followed closely in second and third, confirming the French squad’s strong form in the early stages of testing. Another consistent presence near the top, Evan Giltaire (ART Grand Prix), finished fourth, ahead of Hiyu Yamakoshi (Van Amersfoort Racing) and Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi (Trident), who shared an identical lap time.

Also inside the top ten were Ruiqi Liu (Trident), Pedro Clerot (Van Amersfoort Racing), Akshay Bohra (R-ace GP), and Nikita Bedrin (Saintéloc Racing), all within striking distance in what was a very competitive session.

With the first day of testing now complete, attention turns to tomorrow for the second and final day of the Barcelona pre-season collective test. Engines will fire up once again starting from 9:00.
