MARCO ARDIGÒ ON THE PODIUM ON THE OCCASION OF THE EUROPEAN KZ AND KZ2 CATEGORIES IN FRANCE

On the French Salbris circuit the Tony Kart Racing Team shines in KZ class thanks to the third place gained by Marco Ardigò

The Kart Grand Prix - France, the first round of the FIA Karting European Championship for the KZ and KZ2 shifter categories, obtains an excellent feedback for the Tony Kart Racing Team.

In KZ category, Marco Ardigò distinguishes himself from the qualifying heats on Friday, signing the sixth timing. With these premises, the three-time-world-champion performs excellent eliminatory heats, winning a third, second and fifth place allowing him to qualify third for the final of the category.

Here, the new winner of the WSK Super Master Series 2018 once again proves the excellent performance of his Tony Kart Racer 401S powered by Vortex RKZ engine, with which he takes the third step of the podium. An excellent result, especially considering the excellent comeback after an unlucky start that forced him to slip into twelfth position. In addition, the Tony Kart Racing Team’s driver is still in the running for the European 2018 category title.

Still in KZ class, very good performances are shown in Salbris by Ardigò’s teammates, Simo Puhakka and Noah Milell. The Finnish driver starts on the right foot and enters the top ten since the beginning of the weekend. The eighth position in the final, with a small gap from the top drivers, is certainly a good starting point to try to improve in the upcoming events. AlsoMilell will try to achieve this goal: the Swedish driver, usually engaged in the OK category, inevitably pay some problems of the driving with the gearbox, especially in the heats, but nevertheless proves to get used quickly and is the author of an excellent final, in which he recovers seven positions and ends with a brilliant twelfth place.

In KZ2, the Tony Kart Racing Team colors are held high by Alessio Piccini, constantly in the Top 5 during the eliminatory heats and a breath from the final podium, who closed in fourth place, only 3 tenths of a second from the third position.
Bad luck, however, for David Vidales and Matteo Viganò. The Spanish driver shows off the full potential of his Tony Kart Racer 401S chassis with a tenth place in the qualifying and excellent heats, where he also gains a victory. Unfortunately, in the last heat Vidales faces an inconvenience forcing him to the last place and moving him back to the starting grid of the final. Here, involved in the fight of the center of the group, the Spaniard recovers six positions but, eight laps from the end, is involved in an accident that puts an end to his race.

And always an accident, this time shortly after the start, takes away any chance even toViganò, who leaves the final while running in the ninth position, sending in smoke all the efforts shown throughout the weekend.
The next round of the Tony Kart Racing Team is scheduled on the weekend of May 17th-20th, when the European OK and OKJ championship will return to the track on the English circuit of PF International. The shifter categories, however, will continue their run in the round ofJuly 13th-15th at the South Garda Karting in Lonato.
