The first official outing of the 2025 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine came to a close this afternoon at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, with the fourth and final session of the two-day pre-season collective test.
Topping the last session was Macéo Capietto (CL Motorsport), who set the fastest lap with a time of 1:37.190, narrowly edging out his teammate Zachary David by just 0.038s, a strong conclusion to a promising debut for the new team on the FRECA grid.
Rui-Heng Yeh (RPM) followed in third place, showing a consistent pace ahead of Matteo De Palo (Trident), already a standout performer on Day 1. Akshay Bohra (R-ace GP) finished fifth, with Giovanni Maschio (RPM), Jin Nakamura (R-ace GP), Yaroslav Veselaho and Nikita Bedrin (both Saintéloc Racing), and Ruiqi Liu (Trident) completing the top ten.
Meanwhile, Evan Giltaire (ART Grand Prix) wrapped up his test in 12th position, but with the distinction of being the fastest driver across the two days, a strong statement from the Frenchman ahead of the 2025 campaign.
Evan Giltaire: “I’m really happy with how the first session went this morning. Yesterday was a busy day working hard to find the best possible setup, and today we managed to put everything together and set a very strong lap. Now we’re looking forward to continuing this momentum in Misano.”
In the closing stages of the session, teams and drivers also took the opportunity to simulate standing starts from the grid. This was especially valuable for the newcomers, who gained further confidence in handling the car in key race situations.
The championship will return to action next week for the second of three official test events, as the FRECA field takes to the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli for the first time in series history. Testing will run across two days on April 17–18.
