Leonardo Marseglia expressed himself at the very best at the Circuito Internazionale Napoli, winning Race 2 of the ACI Karting Italian Championship.
With the third round of the ACI Karting Italian Championship taking place at the Circuito Internazionale Napoli, Leonardo Marseglia walks away with a 5th place in Race 1 and an amazing win in Race 2. With a less than a week off until his next event, Leonardo is growing race after race and is building his way up to the FIA Karting World Championship in Lonato the next September.
The BirelART’s kart #151 starts the weekend with a 6th position in qualy on Friday. Throughout heats on Saturday, Leonardo recovers one position overall, thanks to a P6 and a P4 in the two manches.
On Sunday morning in Race 1, Leonardo doesn’t start well and slips back to the end of the top ten. Lap after lap, he negotiates his way to the front and brings the 5th position home. In Race 2 Leonardo makes the most of a contact at the first lap and recovers two positions and grabs P3. It was only a matter of 2 laps before BirelART’s driver takes the top spot with Giuseppe Palomba breathing down his neck. From that moment on, Leonardo opens a gap that gives him the win.
“I’m so happy about this result! I’d like to thank my team, my family and my sponsors for the support. Once again, I found myself completely at my ease on this circuit and I gave my best. Both races were not easy: in the first one I had to recover some position after a bad start, whilst in Race 2 I had to fight against Giuseppe Palomba, leader of the championship and one of the fastest driver on this circuit. This race proves my progress with the shifterkart and my real potential. On to Kerpen for the third round of the Deutsche Kart Meisterschaft next week!”
Here are the results of the event.
