Latest decisions of the FIA ​​World Motor Sport Council regarding Karting

At its meeting on 7th June, 2018 in Manila, Philippines, the FIA ​​World Motor Sport Council made the following decisions based on the proposals of the International Karting Commission.

Mini
At the request of several manufacturers, homologation of Mini chassis, as well as engines and tyres, will be carried out at the same time during the year 2019 for implementation on 1st January, 2020 instead of being spread over three years as in the other categories. 
Homologation Period for Mini (Group 3) 
Chassis, Brakes, Bodywork: 2020 - 2023 
Engines: 2020 - 2021 
Tyres: 2020 - 2022 
The corresponding application form must be returned to the CIK-FIA no later than 1st August 2019 via the applicant's ASN.

Superkart
Update of the Homologation Regulations. Date of application: immediate. 
Superkart engines must be homologated as of 1st January, 2019. All engine manufacturers approved on 1st January, 2018 will be able to apply for homologation of their engines by presenting only two engines during the homologation inspection. For any new homologation, ten engines will have to be presented during the homologation inspection. 
Update of the corresponding Technical Regulations. Date of application: 01/01/2019.

General Prescriptions of the CIK-FIA
In order to have unified regulations in terms of safety of Karting equipment providing for the use of homologated products and the applicable penalty system in the case of incorrect positioning of the front fairing in all Competitions registered in the CIK-FIA International Sporting Calendar, Articles 2.3.2 and 2.3.3 have been added to the General Prescriptions of the CIK-FIA, and Article 2.24 has been adjusted accordingly. Date of application: 01/01/2019.

CIK-FIA Guidelines for "E-Karting"
These guidelines are intended to improve safety in "E-Karting", not regulated by the CIK-FIA. They are not binding and are independent of the Technical Regulations of the CIK-FIA. 
Chassis and body homologated in Groups 1 and 2, brakes approved in accordance with gearbox categories. 
A single electric motor with a maximum power of 20 kW at a maximum voltage of 60 volts. Direct transmission between the engine and the rear axle only through a chain or belt. 
Batteries mounted inside the chassis. 
Homologated Option tyres. 
Weight of the kart including the driver (ready to run): minimum 170 kg / maximum 187 kg. Minimum running time of 20 minutes at maximum power.
