Karting Australia welcomes two new directors to the board

Karting Australia is pleased to announce the appointment of David White and Dr Sarah Ryan to its Board of Directors, further strengthening the governance and expertise guiding the sport's growth and development in Australia.

David White, with nearly 35 years of experience in the media and sports industries, brings a wealth of knowledge in sports media rights and sponsorship negotiations. As the former Global President of Media and Managing Director of Lagardère Sports Americas and previously General Manager of Sports at Network Ten Australia. David has built a distinguished career at the intersection of media and sport. Notably, his drive and commitment to provide the television package for the early years of the Supercars Championship was largely responsible for giving it the impetus that saw it become a mainstream televised Australian sport. He also led the launch of ONE HD in 2009, Australia’s first 24-hour free-to-air sports television channel, managing all media rights negotiations and a team of 65 staff.

“I am excited to join Karting Australia’s Board and look forward to applying my experience to further enhance the sport’s profile and assist with various opportunities,” said Mr White. “Karting is a foundation for so many motorsport champions and I’m thrilled to be able to contribute to its future.”

Dr Sarah Ryan brings a diverse portfolio of expertise to the Board, with extensive experience as a non-executive director for ASX20 and ASX50 companies. Her career spans global roles in energy, natural resources, innovation, and technology development. She currently serves as a non-executive director on the boards of Viva Energy, Aurizon, Transurban, and several others, and she has expertise in audit, risk, sustainability, and governance. Her experience will be invaluable to Karting Australia’s long-term strategic objectives.

“It’s an honour to join Karting Australia’s Board and work with an organisation that plays such a critical role in developing motorsport talent and fostering community engagement,” said Dr Ryan. “I look forward to supporting the sport’s strategic direction and ensuring its continued success.”

David and Sarah join a distinguished Board comprising Kevin Davis (Chair), Andrew Westacott, Garth Tander, John Reynolds, Lauren Batchelor, Michael Masi and Samantha Reid.

Karting Australia Chairman Kevin Davis welcomed the new Directors.

“David and Sarah both bring a wealth of experience that will further strengthen Karting Australia’s governance and in conjunction with our affiliated States and Clubs, help us achieve our vision for the future of karting in Australia. Their expertise in media, governance, and strategic planning will be invaluable,” said Mr Davis.

The expanded Board is well-positioned to lead Karting Australia into an exciting new chapter, driving the growth of the sport and continuing its role as the foundation of Australian motorsport.
