Kart CRG: Podium missed in Slovakia

The 3rd Round of the FIA European Championship once again confirmed CRG colors among the protagonists of International karting, in particular in the OK category with Louis Iglesias, who started from the 2nd row in the Final, after the excellent performances in the Qualifying Practice, Heats and Super Heats.  However, the Frenchman immediately lost positions due to a slight collision in the 1st lap, remaining in traffic and finishing the race only in P13. It didn't go any better for Gabriel Gomez, who lost a Heat and was only in P17 in the intermediate ranking on Saturday, before finishing the Super Heat in P4, recovering some places for the starting grid of the Final. Unfortunately, however, a contact in the Final definitively put an end to his race and, probably, to his hopes of winning the title for which only mathematics still keeps him in the running, despite remaining in P2 in the general classification.

The Chinese Ka Po Yu went much better in the Final, achieving a solid top ten, just as Davide Bottaro finished in the points, 14th place under the chequered flag. Tom Dussol also had a positive weekend, finishing in P23 in the Final. The team balance for the CRG Racing team is also positive due to the fact that 6 drivers qualified for the Final, making it the 2nd most numerous brand.

In the OKJ category, there was still a lot of bad luck for François Kerdal and Manu Miguez, while Asher Ochstein once again had an excellent weekend, narrowly missing out on the points in the Final.

The last event with the FIA European Championship is scheduled for August 4th in Sweden when the titles will be awarded.

CRG driver’s post-race reactions:

Louis Iglesias (OK): “Our weekend was solid until the Super Heat, while in the Final we lacked something in terms of pace, regardless of the unlucky start. We will have to analyze all the data and understand it better, but despite everything, I believe that the balance for our team is still positive, as is the work done by all the technical staff. I leave Slovakia with P4 in the Championship standings and every chance to gain further positions in the last race of the European Championship, then we will focus on the World Championship".

Ka Po Yu (OK): “Ending this international race in P10 is a source of great satisfaction and pride for me. We had a great pace all weekend and I was able to fight on par with the best drivers in the world. I really have to thank CRG and the whole team a lot for the great work done: the chassis-engine package was exceptional, as well as all the support I had from the technical staff, which gave me the chance to learn a lot."
