Josh McLean joins Pace Performance for 2025 GB4 Championship

Ginetta GT graduate Josh McLean has been named as the Pace Performance team’s first signing for its new venture into the GB4 Championship.

The 20-year-old Briton will make his single-seater racing debut with the team he contested three Ginetta GT Championship races with at Donington Park last year. In his first car races of any sort, McLean netted an impressive best result of sixth place.

McLean’s formative career saw him claim multiple karting accolades, debuting in Honda Cadets in 2015 and progressing up through Mini X30 and Junior X30 before bringing his career to a temporary halt in 2019.

His achievements included the English E Plate title in 2017, and four further titles the following year, including the outright British title, the Kartmasters GP, TVKC Winter Series and the LGM Championship, which he won again in 2019.

After making his racing return last September, Josh has now switched focus to single-seaters, undergoing fitness and sim preparations with Kokoro Performance before taking to the Tatuus MSV GB4-025 for the first time in pre-season testing.

Pace Performance Team Owner Sean Byrne said: “Josh's arrival to the team for the 2025 GB4 Championship season is very exciting. We are eager to start with him to assist him in reaching his objectives, he has been working very hard and has already learnt a lot. Although it will be different from what he has done previously, we are certain that he will be prepared to start the season strong.”

Josh McLean said: “I can’t put into words how excited I am to be back behind the wheel after a long break away from motorsport. Ever since I stepped away, I’ve been longing to come back and now is the perfect opportunity for me to do so; especially in the GB4 Championship. I’m really looking forward to working with Kokoro and Pace for the season and can’t wait to see what we can achieve together in my debut championship in cars.”
