John Bennett switches to JHR Developments for 2024 GB3 Championship push

JHR Developments has confirmed that John Bennett will join the team for the 2024 GB3 Championship season, where the youngster will continue his push towards the front of the grid.

The 20-year-old, from Salisbury, will enter his third season in the series – and just his fourth in car racing – with his eyes firmly set on continuing his progression as he joins the 2023 Teams’ Champions. Last year John scored a second-place finish at Silverstone and took two pole positions, while in 2022 he was in the top five on eight occasions, adding a podium at Donington Park.

Prior to single-seaters, he competed in karting and in the Ginetta GT5 Challenge, taking three podiums in the final four races of his rookie season in 2020, which he followed up with five wins, 10 podiums, and two pole positions as he finished runner up next time around.

John heads into the season with plenty of racing mileage behind him already this year, having tackled the Formula Regional Middle East Championship across the past few weeks, further building his knowledge and experience. He is also part of Motorsport UK’s Team UK Futures programme, which identifies, develops, and supports talented competitors aged 15-24 who demonstrate exceptional potential to progress.

JHR Developments comes into 2024 off the back of another successful season, where it clinched the GB3 Championship Teams’ title and finished third and fifth in the Drivers’ standings. The team claimed third in the F4 British Championship as well.

John Bennett said: “I’m really excited to be joining JHR Developments in the GB3 Championship for the 2024 season. They’re a great team full of very talented individuals, as shown by their results across the board in 2023, and things clicked instantly when I undertook my first test with them. I would like to say a big thanks to Steven Hunter for this opportunity. I can’t wait to get the year underway and see what we can achieve together during the year.”

Team Principal Steven Hunter said: “We are really happy to welcome John to the team for the 2024 season. We had a strong season in the GB3 Championship last year, fighting for the Drivers’ title right to the final round, so we’ll be working hard with John to be at the front again.

“John has impressed us in testing not only with his pace on track and feedback off it, but also with his desire and dedication to succeed and challenge for the title. We’ll be putting in plenty of hours before the opening rounds at Oulton Park, ready to hit the ground running.”
