Gomez and CRG once again on the top step of the podium

The 3rd Round of the Champions of the Future on the Rødby track (Denmark), the Series in which the drivers and the teams work on the basis of the FIA European Championship races, was a very productive weekend for the CRG Racing Team. From the point of view of the sporting result, a new victory for Gabriel Gomez in the OK category shines: the CRG KT2 chassis has once again proved to be versatile and fast in all track conditions. The Brazilian driver closed the Qualifying phase in P2, then won the Super Heat and conquered the Final with a good margin over the 2nd classified, demonstrating a truly impressive race pace.

However, the positive feedback regarding the performances came in a unanimous way from all the CRG drivers, despite in some cases some unlucky episodes compromised the final result, like for example for what concerns Mark Dubnitski, who was always fast throughout the weekend, but then involved in a race contact at the start of the Final, in which he damaged the chassis and compromised his ambitions for a sporting result, finishing only in P30. Also with regards to the OK category, Mattia Colnaghi's balance was also positive with an excellent race pace that allowed him to recover several positions and finish the Final in P15. Unluckily, due to some unfortunate episodes, Francisco Macedo, Jimmy Helias and Ronnie Stefani did not qualify for the Final, as well as in the OK Junior class Oliver Rasmussen (at his first experience in the Champions of the Future), Javier Herrera, Gabriel Koenigkan and Klara Kowalczyk. In any case, there will be a new chance for all of them to demonstrate their speed in just 15 days, when the next Round of the FIA Karting European Championship - OK & Junior is scheduled on the same Danish track of Rødby.

CRG drivers’ post-race reactions:

Gabriel Gomez (OK): “We did a great job as a team, both to get the most out of this race, bringing home another international victory for the CRG colors, and to better prepare for the European Championship that we will have on this track in 15 days. The KT2 chassis goes very well with this type of tire and on every track it allows us to easily find a good balance right away. Now we have to keep our concentration high and aim for all the goals of this season, also continuing the development on the engine side where Nicola Boscaini of BM Motors is doing an outstanding job".

Mattia Colnaghi (OK): “It was an overall positive weekend in which my performances grew steadily. My race pace in the Super Heat and in the Final on Sunday was good and this gives me a lot of confidence for the next round of the European Championship. The chassis has always had a good balance and I was able to concentrate a lot on driving, rather than working with the setup and at racing level this is always an advantage. If I had started a little further ahead, my place would have been in the top ten and with this in mind, we'll be back here in 15 days".
