Francot moves to F4 Spanish Championship with MP Motorsport

Young Dutch driver Reno Francot has rejoined MP Motorsport for a full season in the F4 Spanish Championship; the 17-year-old from Echt will team up with the previously announced René Lammers, Yani Stevenheydens, Ean Eyckmans, Niklas Schaufler and Hudson Schwartz in a strong six-car entry for the Dutch team.

Francot is set to reacquaint himself with MP after completing three exploratory appearances with the team in the late-October Valencia round of the 2023 Championship, having already raced to an extremely close-run second place in that season’s ACCR Central European Zone F4 Championship.

Last year, Francot switched to the Italian F4 Championship while also taking in selected rounds of the Euro4 and F4 Spanish Championship. He will join MP after finishing a strong winter season so far in the F4 Middle East series, highlighted by a win in the third round at Yas Marina. After that, Francot guested for MP in two rounds of the Spanish Winter Championship, especially completing a strong run at Portimão with a sixth, fourth and fifth.

“I’m really excited to be part of MP Motorsport’s line-up for the F4 Spanish Championship this year”, said Francot. “They are one of the top teams in, arguably, the most competitive F4 series in Europe and bring a massive amount of experience to the track.

"With the F4 experience that I have gained over the past two seasons, I’m aiming for everything to click in this Spanish campaign with MP. I’m really looking forward to teaming up with René, Yani, Ean, Niklas and Hudson to bring home as many points and trophies for the team as I can.”

“We are very pleased that Reno is returning to the MP fold after our first acquaintance at Valencia”, said Sander Dorsman, MP Motorsport’s team principal, “For a Dutch team, it’s always good to have a Dutch representative in the line-up, and with René and Reno we now have two. Reno has always been quick in karts and shone in his previous F4 campaigns, so I’m happy to welcome him back into the family.”

Ahead of his single-seater career Francot proved his mettle in karting, claiming fourth in the 2020 RMC International Trophy, third in that season’s Benelux Karting Series and winning the Dutch Championship, all in Rotax Mini Max karts.

In 2021, he then starred by snatching fourth in the FIA Karting Academy Trophy in a run of results that included a win and a pole position, before progressing to OK Junior level in the FIA European and World Karting Championships in 2022.
