At Franciacorta, the final round of the 2023 Champions of the Future Euro Series confirmed the positive development of Birel ART in OK. Emanuele Olivieri put in a solid performance in the top three of the class before finishing 6th in the Final. A number of setbacks prevented Matheus Morgatto, Joel Bertgström and Aaron Garcia from reaping the rewards of their good race pace, but the overall result remains very encouraging. The development work continued throughout the weekend in OK-Junior.
"Our efforts were rewarded with significant performances at the Champions of the Future in Franciacorta," said Riccardo Longhi, Birel ART Racing Team Manager. "Emanuele Olivieri was undoubtedly one of the contenders of the OK category. 1st in his group in Qualifying, he was able to start from 3rd position and confirm our competitiveness by taking three wins out of five during the Qualifying Heats. He finished a creditable 6th in the Final. Our other drivers encountered a number of problems following their distant positions after Qualifying. Retirements and penalties prevented them from qualifying for the Final, despite their great potential. However, we remain focused on the performance gains we were able to achieve in OK at Franciacorta, just two weeks before the World Championship. We're going to capitalise on the positive aspects of this weekend to give our drivers the means to fight at the front. This also applies to the OK-Junior category, where we have a lot of potential to develop.”
All Birel ART Racing's efforts are now focused on the FIA Karting World Championship, which will take place on the Franciacorta circuit from 6th to 8th October.
