Fortec Motorsport complete 2021 British F3 trio with Oliver Bearman
Fortec Motorsports has confirmed that British rising star Oliver Bearman will complete its three-car entry for the 2021 BRDC British Formula 3 Championship. Bearman will compete in selected rounds of the UK’s premier single-seater series with the Daventry-based team, alongside his existing commitments in the German and Italian Formula 4 Championships.
The 16-year-old graduated to single seaters during the pandemic-hit 2020 season with a silverware-laden CV in karting, including the European and World titles at Junior X30 level, with his first victories following shortly after at Hockenheim (ADAC F4) and Vallelunga (Italian F4).
His successful first steps on the single-seater ladder have prompted a part-time graduation to F3 with the front running Fortec outfit for 2021 alongside a pair of Formula 4 title challenges. Bearman will join up with new team-mates Roberto Faria and Mikkel Grundtvig this week ahead of the season opening triple-header on Brands Hatch’s iconic Grand Prix circuit (22-23 May).
Bearman said: "I’m really excited to be joining Fortec Motorsport’s team for the 2021 BRDC British Formula 3 Championship. The relationship with the whole team is fantastic, and the car itself is so much fun to drive. I’m looking forward to kicking things off with this weekend at Brands Hatch GP."
Oliver Dutton, Fortec Motorsports Team Manager, said: "It’s great to be able to formally welcome Ollie to our BRDC British Formula 3 Championship team after a series of successful tests with the team. Driver development is one area of the sport our family-run team excels at, so we’re very excited to play a role in helping Ollie with the next steps in his career after a very successful start in Formula 4. I’m sure between him, Roberto and Mikkel, we can make a positive start to the season at Brands Hatch this weekend and then push on from there."
Bearman is the 19th driver confirmed for this weekend's opening rounds at Brands Hatch, the largest BRDC British F3 entry at the start of a new season since 2016.
