Formula Regional by Alpine: The chase is on at Le Castellet

The 2022 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine is set for its fourth event of the campaign at Paul Ricard next weekend (3/5 June). Following an exciting event at Monaco, there are still a lot of points on the table, meaning French races could present some interesting developments in the Championship standings.

The European Series makes its return at Le Castellet with Prema Racing’s Dino Beganovic holding the initiative. Last time out, just last Sunday at Montecarlo, the Swedish secured a lights-to-flag victory in Race 2 as he further tightened his grip at the top of the drivers’ standings (129 points).

R-ace GP’s Hadrien David, after scoring a victory and a second place in Monaco, sits second with a 55-point deficit, while Gabriele Minì (ART Grand Prix), who claimed the third step of the podium on the city track, sit 67 points further back. Kas Haverkort’s consistency to-date has put him fourth overall. The Dutch driver (Van Amersfoort Racing) in his second year in the series, redeemed the Imola weekend by taking third and fourth place in Monaco. MP Motorsport’s Michael Belov completes the top five ahead of Gabriel Bortoleto (R-ace GP) and Paul Aron (Prema Racing). The Estonian, following a broken suspension in qualifying, couldn’t express his potential on the streets of Monaco where was unable to score points. Behind them Mari Boya (ART Grand Prix), Sebastian Montoya (Prema Racing) and Lorenzo Fluxa (R-ace GP) round out the top 10.

Montoya also leads the rookie standings ahead of Leonardo Fornaroli (Trident Motorsport) and Joshua Durksen (Arden Motorsport).

Collective tests will kick-off the weekend on Friday. Qualifying on day one of the race meeting is set to get underway at 9:45 on Saturday, 4th June, with the first of two 30-minute plus one lap races following at 15:15. On Sunday, 5th June, qualifying two will commence at 09:00. The second race will start at 14:35. Race one and two will be streamed live on the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine Facebook page and official YouTube channel.
