On a wet track, the first 50 minutes collective tests session on the Circuit Zandvoort is stopped quite a few times due to red flags. In this “start and stop” session, it is Franco Colapinto (MP Motorsport) to set the fastest lap time. The Argentinian driver stops the watch with a very good lap time of 1:39.588 in front of Dino Beganovic (Prema Powerteam – 1:39.894), Kas Haverkort (MP Motorsport – 1:40.234), David Vidales (Prema Motorsport – 1:40.424), Mikhael Belov (G4 Racing – 1:40.528) and Paul Aron (Prema Powerteam – 1:40.594).
Only 10° the championship leader Grégoire Saucy (ART Grand Prix), second yesterday on dry track behind Colapinto, while 11°is the new entry in the Red Bull Junior Team, Isack Hadjar (R-ace GP). The interest of the F1 teams in the Formula Regional by Alpine championship is definitely very strong, and the acquisition by Red Bull of the 16 years old French driver indeed confirms the fact that the championship is a point of reference for the entire motorsports world.
Franco Colapinto: “I am pleased with the car. We are competitive both on dry and wet track. Improvement from previous rounds seems very good and also my driving has made a step forward. We must of course wait for the official Qualifyings and Races.”
Dino Beganovic: “We still struggle on dry track, but are definitely more competitive on wet. At the moment my aim is to show I can do my best also compared to my teammates”.
