First polemen of the year in a rainy Cremona

The 2025 season is officially underway, and a rainy Friday has crowned the first polemen of the year.

Jef Verbeke (Bouvin Power - Mini MAX), Shun Sekiguchi (Dan Holland Racing - Junior MAX), Macauley Bishop (Dan Holland Racing - Senior MAX), Will Elswood (Kraft Motorsport - DD2), and Xen De Ruwe (SCC - DD2 Masters) have all secured pole position in their respective categories.

In Mini MAX, it was Maria Ruberto (KR Sport) who initially set the fastest lap in Group 1, but Jef Verbeke outpaced her in Group 2 to take the overall pole. Oliver Spencer (KR Sport) secured second place in the same group.

A surprise performance in Junior MAX came from Shun Sekiguchi (Dan Holland Racing), who narrowly edged out Canadian driver Rayan Ghandour (KR Sport) by less than a tenth of a second. In Group 2, Max Sadurski (SP Motorsport) set the fastest time.

In Senior MAX, Macauley Bishop (Dan Holland Racing) and Kai Hunter (Hunter Motorsport) met expectations, each topping their respective groups. Joel Joepere (AGS Racing Team) set the fastest lap in Group 3, but Bishop’s time remained unbeaten overall.

A standout performance in DD2 came from Will Elswood (Kraft Motorsport), who last year competed in the E20 Senior category and now claims the top spot. In DD2 Masters, 2024 RMCET DD2 Vice-Champion Xen De Ruwe (SCC) proved to be the fastest.

With the first qualifying sessions in the books, the long series of heats has begun, set to continue through Saturday evening, shaping the grids for Sunday morning’s Prefinals.
