Chris Dittmann Racing has confirmed that Martinius Stenshorne will race for the team at the Silverstone GB3 rounds on 27/28 April.
The 18-year-old Norwegian is already a winner this season in the FIA Formula 3 Championship, having triumphed in the Sprint Race in Melbourne last month, after fighting his way into the lead in the opening stages and fending off late pressure. He arrives at Silverstone from a three-day F3 test at Barcelona, as he continues his international campaign with Hitech Pulse-Eight.
In 2023, he made his way into the Formula Regional European Championship history books as the first Rookie to take pole position at the opening race of the year and then won on his debut. He took five wins in total during the campaign, in addition to six further podium finishes, taking the runner-up spot in the final championship standings, along with the Rookie title.
Martinius was born into a racing family, with his father Martin a competitor in the World Rally Championship. He had his first laps in a kart at the age of four, began racing at ten, and won both the WSK Master Series and Italian Championship before moving to cars.
His appearance at Silverstone comes as part of Chris Dittmann Racing’s link up with the Hitech Academy, with full-season GB3 Championship racers Flynn Jackes and Seb Murray joining the team through the partnership.
Martinius Stenshorne said: “I’m excited to join Chris Dittmann Racing for round two of the GB3 Championship. Silverstone is one of the most famous tracks on the calendar, but also one of the toughest, and getting experience will be really valuable to take forward to the future. It’s going to be a learning experience, with a new car and a new track, but I’m confident we will get a lot out of the weekend. Thanks to Hitech GP and All Road Management for putting this together, I am looking forward to getting on track.”
Dan Hodder, Hitech Academy said: “We are delighted to have Martinius compete alongside our regular Hitech Academy drivers, Flynn Jackes and Seb Murray, as we look to tackle this weekend’s second round of the GB3 Championship at Silverstone. His experience will be very well received in the team, and we look forward to a strong weekend with Chris Dittmann Racing.”
Chris Dittmann, Team Owner said: “We’re very happy to welcome Martinius to the team at Silverstone. We’ve built a positive relationship with the Hitech Academy, helping to get seat time for talented youngsters, helping develop their skills as racing drivers in key stages of their careers. It will be a new challenge for him, learning both the car and circuit, but we’ll be working hard as always to give him the best chance of success as possible.”
