After an eight-week break, the German Kart Championship is back on the racetrack. In Belgian Genk, the half-time event of the highest German Kart racing series is going to take place next weekend. Over 130 drivers from all over the world will be at the start - again including the German Electric Kart Championship.
The German Kart Championship is nearing the second half of the season in Genk. Last year, the racetrack in Belgium wasn't a part of the Championship due to the Corona pandemic. In 2021, the DKM is back on the 1.360m long track and is going to crown the half-time Champions of the four-grade series DKM, DJKM, DSKM and DSKC. With 130 drivers from more than 20 nations, the classes are brilliantly manned once again and enjoy lots of interest again. This time too, the DKM team is offering extensive broadcasting. On Saturday and Sunday, the kart racing fans can access more than 16 hours of live action on the world wide web. Additionally, there is going to be extensive live-timing and news on the official social media channels of the DKM.
Who is going to be half-time Champion?
The duels for the half-time Championships are going to be the focus this time. At the DKM, Niels Tröger (SRP Racing Team) is traveling to Genk as the leading driver. With two race victories and a second place, he can look back on a strong yield and already has a small advance to a pursuing group of four drivers. The quartet consisting of Herolind Nuredini (TB Racing Team), Elias Olsen (KSM Official Racing Team), Sandro Holzem (CV Performance Group) and Luca Griggs (KSM Official Racing Team) is only three points apart and wants to stay close to the leading driver in Genk.
At the juniors, the fight for the title is a lot narrower. Akshay Bohra (TB Racing Team) from Singapore dominated the kick-off in Kerpen. At the event in Wackersdorf, Maxim Rehm (Ricky Flynn Motorsport) experienced a perfect weekend. The German won both races in Upper Palatine and took the role of pursuer immediately. Before the half-time event, he is 32 points behind Bohra.
There is high tension among the two shifterkart categories DSKM and DSKC. Senna van Walstijn (CPB Sport) won three of the four ranked races so far and is leading the Championship. In his wind shadow is Fabian Federer (SRP Racing Team). The South Tyrolean won the first Wackersdorf-race and also gained lots of points during all the other races. Currently, he is only 15 points behind the Frenchman. The fight for the title at the DMSB Shifterkart Cup is even narrower: There were four different winners in four races. Rookie Jakob Bergmeister (SRP Racing Team) starts into the half-time event as the leading driver but has five drivers closely behind him who want to take the lead.
Numerous Rookies fighting for titles
In 2021, the DKM is putting out a rookie title for the classes DKM and DJKM for the first time. After the first ranked races, Kiano Blum (DKM/TB Racing Team) and Lenn Nijs (DJKM/SP Motorsport) are leading those lists of rankings.
