Talented Dutch racer Dilano van ’t Hoff will remain with MP Motorsport as he steps up for his first full season of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (FRECA).
The reigning Spanish Formula 4 Champion, who of course won the crown with MP, will join Michael Belov and Sami Meguetounif in an exciting three-car line-up for the Dutch team.
Widely regarded as Holland’s bright young hope in single-seaters, Van ’t Hoff already tested the FRECA waters in a string of late-season race outings with MP Motorsport last year where he acquitted himself well.
In late September 2021 the 17-year-old from Dordrecht came into FRECA with a hot reputation as the runaway Spanish F4 Championship leader - a title he would seal a week later, having taken 10 wins, 16 podiums, nine pole positions and six fastest laps. Continuing his FRECA testing into the winter break, Van ‘t Hoff has also remained busy by competing in the Formula Regional Asian Championship.
“Never change a winning team!”, said Van ’t Hoff on staying with MP for his FRECA debut season, “We’ve been winners in single-seaters from the very first Spanish F4 race at Spa, and I’m eager to keep that momentum going for us. As a Dutchman, it’s extra special to race for a Dutch team, and its family atmosphere really helps me to consistently perform at a high level. Testing with MP’s FRECA team went well, and I look forward to go out and do the business.”
“Dilano was always going to stay with us, wasn’t he?”, said MP Motorsport’s team principal Sander Dorsman, “We had such a great season together [last year], he’s done everything to prove that he really is the exciting talent we knew he was.
"With our ladder from F4 to F2 now firmly in place, we can’t wait to show how Dilano is capable to take the next step and be successful from the start. With Michael and Sami on our team as well, our 2022 FRECA season looks very promising indeed.”
Van 't Hoff made his definitive breakthrough in karting with third places in the 2018 IAME Euro Series and IAME International Final for X30 Junior karts, while also making his mark in the various CIK-FIA and WSK OK Junior Championships.
In 2019, Van ’t Hoff stepped up to OK karts, with highlights including a fifth place in the European Championship. At karting’s CIK-FIA world level, he added a 14th place in 2020. In his first year in single-seaters, Van ’t Hoff narrowly missed out on the title in the UAE F4 Winter Series but then proceeded to claim the 2021 Spanish F4 crown with a dominant season.
