PREMA Racing's Dennis Hauger dominated race 3 at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya today as he led from pole to win with a comfortable margin. The 18-year-old Red Bull Junior driver drove away in the distance and solidified his points score with the fastest lap.
Olli Caldwell capped an outstanding weekend with fourth place, another valuable finish after yesterday's breakthrough win. Caldwell started from 6th place on the grid, gained one spot and then waited to slipstream his way to P4 in the closing stages, laying down solid lap times maximizing his results again.
Series rookie Arthur Leclerc delivered another brilliant recovery from a tough qualifying session. The driver from Monte Carlo finished in P13, just shy of points, but impressed with his pace and race management. With today's win, Hauger secured the driver championship lead, two markers ahead of teammate Caldwell. PREMA Racing is exiting the weekend atop the team standings.
Dennis Hauger: "I'm really really happy for the win in the race with the most points. I didn't have the best start and we were four-wide into turn one. I had to go as steep as I could on the brakes and managed to get in front. From that point on it was mainly managing and trying to stay out of DRS range, keep it clean and not make any mistake."
Arthur Leclerc: "It has been a difficult weekend. The point we need to work on is qualifying, and to manage the traffic a bit better because the pace was a lot better than we showed. We had good comebacks in race 2 and race 3 so we showed we have a lot more potential. Now we move on and look to Paul Ricard."
Olli Caldwell: "A really good weekend, we scored a lot of points and it was great to get a win, plus P4 and P5. There still something to work on, we need to maximize qualifying and we'll look at that in the weekend debrief. Overall I'm really happy with the weekend, but there's a lot to learn and improve on."
