Czech female Karting ace Michelle Jandova made an encouraging Formula 4 debut at the Slovakiaring. Michelle Jandova has made herself a name in Karting and wants to take the next step from competing in KZ2 karts to racing Formula cars in 2023.
Therefore, the 17-year-old from Mlada Boleslav went to test a brand-new Formula 4 Gen2 car with Renauer Motorsport at the Slovakiaring earlier this week. Following seat and pedal fitting at the Renauer Workshop, the Czech driver completed around 150 kilometres on the track just outside Bratislava and performed very much to the liking of team boss Sepp Renauer.
The test was very positive. Michelle is highly ambitious and already has a good foundation we can build on. Through the course of the day, the weather changed from sunshine to rain, but she handled the mixed conditions really well. We are looking forward to continuing our work with her,†programme head Florian Renauer analysed.
Jandova did not want to leave anything to chance and did a lot of simulator work to be well-prepared for the test. I did about 600 virtual laps in the run-up to the track day. But still, doing the real thing was another level of physical and mental stress.
Michelle, named after Rally legend Michelle Mouton as her father Zdenek was a rally driver himself, first started karting at the age of six. She made her way through the ranks from regional events like the Moravia Cup to the Czech Championship and later crossing the borders to Italy. On route, she won the 2018 European Cup and finished fifth in the Italian series recently."Racing is my life and I really want to drive in Formula 4 next season. Today, a lot in racing is about finances, but we are doing everything possible to raise the necessary budget", she added.
More tests with Renauer Motorsport are planned to get Michelle ready for her Formula 4 championship debut in April 2023.
