CRG triumphed at the 18th Karting Champions Cup in Vendrell, locking out the podium of KZ2 with Paolo De Conto, Carlos Gil and Simone Cunati, as Pedro Hiltbrand was fourth at the end of a spectacular comeback race.
Hiltbrand tried to be the ruler of KZ2 in Spain. He kicked off to a great start posting the quickest time in qualifying, leading De Conto, but the Spanish driver was relegated to P13 in Prefinal due to a contact with De Conto.
In the Final, Cunati was among the protagonists taking an early lead, but De Conto came to the fore later on and claimed the win, while Gil was second and Cunati third. Hiltbrand put in an exceptional comeback race closing his effort in P4 and securing the fastest lap of the race. CRG colors monopolized the final classification as Miguel Molina was sixth, Miguel Novel seventh, Aleix Barrabeig ninth, Filippo Berto tenth, Alejandro Fleta 11th, Marc Lopez 12th, Alvaro Lleonart 13th and Toni Forne 14th.
CRG’s successful exit to Vendrell was made more round by the victories scored in Junior and Senior. The victory of X30 Junior went to Lucas Pons, while his teammate Alejandro Melendez was second and Albany Del Valle Vivas fifth.
CRG secured the win in X30 Senior with Danny Carenini (Autoeuropeo). Ayrton Fontecha joined him on the podium in P3, after posting the pole position time in qualifying. The other CRG drivers were also very strong: Umberto Altea was fourth, Javier Sagrera fifth and Arnaud Malizia eighth.
Francisco Jose Alvaro was fourth in Avelin and led Eric Gené, while Raul Domene was eighth.
