Ayato Iwasaki joins Elite Motorsport for GB3 debut at Donington Park
Japan’s Ayato Iwasaki will make his GB3 debut in the final event of the season at Donington Park this weekend (15-16 October) with Elite Motorsport.
Ayato raced karts, mainly in Asia, where he spent several years in the senior category. He won the Asian Karting Open Senior Championship (2019) and RMC Japan KZ Championship (2020), was runner-up in the IAME Asia Cup Seniors (2020) and claimed the RMC Japan KZ Class and RMC Japan Senior Championships last year.
Iwasaki, who attended his first karting event in Europe at the X30 Senior - IAME International Final in Le Mans in 2019, made his car racing debut in the Formula Regional Asian Championship at Yas Marina in January and has also contested two Japanese F4 Championship events this year. He will join Elite’s GB3 regulars Tom Lebbon and John Bennett in Donington’s three races.
Ayato Iwasaki said: “I'm very happy to get a chance to race the final round of the championship this year. “I’m looking forward to learning as much as I can and getting more experience in preparation for 2023.”
Elite Motorsport Team Principal Eddie Ives said: “I’m really pleased to be running Ayato in the final three races at Donington this weekend. “We look forward to working with him and developing him as much as we can for whatever the future may hold. “Meanwhile Tom and John will be looking to end their respective seasons on a high.”
