Fortec Motorsports has confirmed that Australian Jack Taylor will race with the team in the GB4 Championship this season.
The teenager started karting back home in Tasmania, taking a number of podiums, before traveling to the mainland to spend time testing both Formula Ford and Formula 4 machinery.
He was also selected by Motorsport Australia to take part in the Ferrari Driver Academy Asia Pacific and Oceania shootout at Sepang in Malaysia, just missing out on a spot in the final six but furthering his experience on and off track.
Jack carried that momentum to a drive in the F4 Indian Championship, scoring a sixth place in just his fifth race, and then fourth at Madras International Circuit. Despite competing against more experienced rivals, he finished the five-round campaign eighth in the standings.
This year he turns his attentions to the GB4 Championship, joining the Fortec Motorsports outfit which clinched the 2022 Drivers’ title and finished runner-up in the Teams’ standings last season.
Jack Taylor said: “I’m excited to be competing in the 2024 GB4 Championship with Fortec Motorsports. They’re a good team with a strong history and I know racing with them will really help develop my driving skills for the future. It will be my first time competing in the United Kingdom and I can’t wait to get started.”
Team Principal Oliver Dutton said: “We’re looking forward to working with Jack this year in the GB4 Championship. He’s a young driver with lots of potential and it will be good to see him develop throughout the season. It’s a big move, coming from Australia, but that just shows how hard he is willing to work to follow his dreams.”
