All set for the Grand Finale of the WSK Super Master Series round 2

The qualifying heats have been completed for the 351 drivers that are contesting the four categories KZ2, OK, OKJ and MINI. The Live Streaming will be available on Sunday, February 13th from 10:40.

It has been an intense racing Saturday at the second round of the WSK Super Master Series in Lonato. The 1.200 meters of the South Garda Karting circuit staged several exciting races to define the finalists that will get on track on Sunday, February 13th. A total of 28 heats have been run today, which means that globally 46 heats have been run considering the initial ones held on Friday afternoon. This is a record of races due to the record number of participants to this very high-level international challenge that involved the 351 verified drivers. In total, 55 Nations are represented, not only from Europe but also Asia, America, Africa and Oceania.

Pex is leading the pack in KZ2.
In the highest category, KZ2, a lot of drivers can aim to the win. In this category, that scored a very high number of drivers, 93,  which is quite unusual, the challenge will involve two levels of competitiveness: on the one side, there are the “official drivers” that are supported directly by the manufacturers, while on the “privateers” are fielded by several teams with the aim to shine next to the more famous colleagues. At the moment the Dutch Stan Pex (SP Motorsport/KR-TM Racing-Vega) is topping the charts with one win and several good placings. He is followed by the Italian Matteo Viganò (Leclerc by Lennox/BirelAR-TM Racing), who claimed two wins. The third place of the provisional classification is currently occupied by the Spanish driver Pedro Hiltbrand (BirelART Racing/BirelART-TM Racing).

Classification of the heats by penalty: 1. Pex pen. 9; 2. Viganò pen. 13; 3. Hiltbrand pen. 16; 4. Trefilov 17; 5. Renaudin 21; 6. Zanchi 21; 7. Denner 26; 8. Palomba 26; 9. Piccini 27; 10. Iglesias 30.

Coluccio is the leader of OK.
The ever more competitive Italian Luigi Coluccio (Tony Kart Racing Team/Tony Kart-Vortex-LeCont) is keeping the momentum in OK after winning the opener of the WSK Super Master Series. A lot of foreign drivers are present in this category, but another Italian is also coming to the fore: the young Cristian Bertuca (Birel ART Racing/BirelART-TM Racing). The Jamaican Alex Powell (KR Motorsport/KR-Iame) completed a good round of heats, as his teammate from Singapore Akshay Bohra. Some experienced drivers like the Tony Kart’s pairing made by the Brit Joseph Turney and the Finn Tuukka Taponen did the same.

Classification of the heats by penalty: 1. Coluccio pen. 0; 2. Taponen pen. 8; 3. Turney pen. 9; 4. Nakamura pen. 14; 5. Powell pen. 15; 6. Slater pen. 15; 7. Popov pen. 15; 8. Severiukhin pen. 15; 9. Deligny pen. 16; 10. Eyckmans pen. 17.

Bondarev to the fore in OKJ.
The number of drivers joining OK-Junior from the lower MINI category is always increasing. Ukraine’s  Oleksandr Bondarev of team Ricky Flynn on the kart by Lando Norris, the Spanish poleman Lucas Fluxa Cross (KR Motorsport/KR-Iame-Vega) and the Italian Emanuele Olivieri (IPK Official Racing Team/IPK-TM Racing) are among the youngest that are coming to the fore. The Dutch René Lammers (Parolin Motorsport/Parolin-TM Racing), who won the opener of the series, bounced back from the hiccup of qualifying practice. The closing heat of the day was characterized by a lot of retirements. Lucas Fluxa Cross was among the drivers that did not finish the race.

Classification of the heats by penalty: 1. Bondarev pen. 9; 2. Khavalkin pen. 14; 3. Cardenas pen. 18; 4. Lammers pen. 18; 5. Olivieri pen. 19; 6. Sambudla pen. 21; 7. Gladysz pen. 31; 8. Przyrowski 32; 9. Dedecker pen. 33; 10. Fluxa Cross pen. 35.

Pesl emerging in MINI.
The lowest category on track, MINI, counts 108 drivers from 41 Countries. The final result here is quite open as a lot of drivers have been fighting each other on the edge of the tenths of a second. The operations are currently led by the Czech Jindrich Pesl of BabyRACE, who won 5 heats. He is followed by the Spaniard Christian Costoya of Parolin Motorsport with 4 heats under his belt. The winner of the opening round – i.e. the Belgian Dries Van Langendonck (Parolin Motorsport/Parolin-TM Racing) – and the Dutch Dean Hoogendoorn on the kart by Alonso also had a solid day.

Classification of the heats by penalty: 1. Pesl pen. 0; 2. Costoya pen. 4; 3. Hoogendoorn pen. 10; 4. Van Langendonck pen. 15; 5. Mazzola pen. 18; 6. Sala pen. 19; 7. Vibriantis pen. 20; 8. Cosma-Cristofor pen. 20; 9. Josseron pen. 24; 10. Oguma pen. 27.
