African heat and thunderstorms in Adria at the beginning of the fourth round of the Italian ACI Karting Championship

Unstable weather characterized the eve of the fourth round of the Italian Karting Championship in Adria. The double finals for categories KZ2, 60 Mini, Iame X30, Rok on Sunday, July 28th. Live TV coverage on AutoMotoTV from 9.40 for race-1 and from 13.25 for race-2.

Following the two initial practice days and qualifying on Friday afternoon with track temperatures reaching 60 degrees Celsius, heats on Saturday, July 27th were run on better weather conditions until mid-afternoon when a thunderstorm made temperatures drop but made it tricky to continue with the race that was underway, the second heat of KZ2. 

The temperature at this fourth round of the Italian Championship was mitigated also by the heavy rain fallen on Friday night, which challenged some of the structures set up by the conductors. Categories KZ2, 60 Mini, Iame X30 Junior and Senior, Rok Junior and Senior are the categories on track.

 

Palomba strong in KZ2, but the Finn Tonteri shining in the deluge

The performance of Giuseppe Palomba on Croc-Tm in KZ2 has been strong and he claimed the pole position before winning the first of the two qualifying heats. He led Leonardo Marseglia (BirelArt-Tm) and classification leader Simone Cunati (CRG-Tm) in the first one, while the rain started to fall at the start of the second heat and it soon turned into a violent thunderstorm that made the circuit impracticable. In this second heat, the Finn Paavo Tonteri (Tony Kart-Vortex) took the lead during the last lap and led Marseglia and Francesco Comanducci (Tony Kart-Tm) at the chequered flag, while Palomba slipped down to P4 in the closing laps after leading the race up to that point. Cunati was fifth, Davide De Marco (KR-Tm) sixth.

Scognamiglio charging 60 Mini

Category 60 Mini is quite uncertain with the presence of 70 drivers. In the 10 heats run so far the victory went to Manuel Scognamiglio (Tony Kart-Tm) in three occasions, the Norwegian Marcus Saeter (Energy-Tm) won twice, while the Briton William MacIntyre (Parolin-Tm), Sebastiano Pavan (Parolin-Tm) the Pole Ian Przyrowsky (Parolin-Tm), the Russian Kirill Kustkov (Energy-Tm) and the Briton Coskun Irfan (Tony Kart-Vortex) claimed one win each.

Badoer surprising all in Iame X30 Junior

In Iame X30 Junior Brando Badoer (Parolin-Iame), son of former F1 driver Luca Badoer, surprisingly claimed a double win. In the third heat the victory went to the reigning champion Francesco Pulito (KR-Iame), while provisional classification leader Cristian Bertuca (BirelArt-Iame) was ninth in the first and 23rd in the second heat. Enzo Trulli (KR-Iame) was also among the quickest and claimed a third and a fifth place. The fastest in qualifying practice, Alessandro Cenedese (KR-Iame) had to settle for P4 and P6. Michael Barbaro Paparo (KR-Iame) also came to the fore taking two second places.

Caglioni scoring a double win in Iame X30 Senior

Leonardo Caglioni (KR-Iame) claimed a great double win in Iame X30 Senior. He recovered a lot of ground on classification leader and pole-sitter Edoardo Ludovico Villa (TB Kart-Iame). Caglioni won both heats, while Villa's run was delayed in the first heat due to the contact with a rival, but managed to bounce back in the second one ending behind Caglioni. Leonardo Fornaroli (KR-Iame) put in a strong first heat ending second, while Valentino Baracco (Croc-Iame) did the same ending third.

X30 Senior standings after the heats: 1. Caglioni; 2. Fornaroli; 3. Carenini; 4. Baracco; 5. Villa; 6. Gulizia; 7. Ingolfo; 8. Russo; 9. Comanducci; 10. Moretti.

 

Rok ready to award its titles

Category Rok is at its third and closing round of the season. The victory of the first heat of Rok Senior went to Nicolò Cuman (Tecno-Vortex), who led Leonardo Moncini (Exprit-Vortex) and Marco Bernardi (Mach1-Vortex), while Giorgio Molinari (Exprit-Vortex) had the upper hand on Moncini and Cuman in the second one. Classification leader David Locatelli (Kosmic-Vortex) was seventh in the first heat and fifth in the second one. In Rok Junior, classification leader Pietro Ragone and Eliseo Donno claimed on win each, both on Tony Kart-Vortex.
