415 entered drivers in Lonato’s round of the WSK Super Master Series

Another significant success in participation marks the 20th year of WSK Promotion's activities. Its event reached the impressive group of 415 registered drivers from over 50 nations in the third round of the WSK Super Master Series, ready to take to the track from February 19th to 23rd at the South Garda Karting in Lonato.

In the 16th edition of the WSK Super Master Series, after the first two events held at La Conca and Sarno, the growth in participation continues, and in Lonato, it reaches even more significant numbers with a very high-level presence, rewarded by the participation of the major manufacturers, teams, and drivers from all 5 continents. Ahead is a world-class event, from the smallest of categories, the MINI in the two classes Gr.3 and Under 10, to the most competitive OKNJ, OKJ, OK, and KZ2.

MINI - An important WSK-branded supply chain.

The MINI supply chain is growing and it is the true lifeblood of all national and international karting. There are 81 registered drivers in Gr.3, where the Portuguese Xavier Lazaro with the DR team on DR-TM Kart-Vega leads after the two rounds of La Conca and Sarno, and 54 very young drivers in the MINI Under 10, which sees the American Josh Bergman with the Kidix team on KR-Iame-Vega at the top. In the U10, the presence of Robin Raikkonen stands out, also competing with the Kidix team, in his second appearance in this edition of the WSK Super Master Series after the convincing start in the last round in Sarno. Also in the race is another son of a famous driver, Johan Berger, with the BabyRace team on Parolin-Iame, who joins other important surnames of motorsport who have already attended WSK events.

OKNJ - Over 50 drivers in the national category of OK-N Junior.

Numbers are increasingly important also in the OK-N Junior. In Lonato there are 57 registered drivers in this new national category that acts as a bridge between the MINI and the more performing international category of OK-Junior. Also in this race very young drivers, from 11 years old, coming from as many as 20 nationalities, are starting to get familiar with the higher performance. Here the American Lucas Palacio, with the KR Motorsport team on KR-Iame-Vega, leads the standings.

OKJ - Great turnout in the international youth category.

The highest turnout belongs to the OK-Junior category, with over 80 young protagonists, where the Dutch Dean Hoogendoorn with the Prema Racing team on KR-Iame-Vega, fresh from his victory in Sarno, has taken the lead. This youth category is also characterized by a great show on the track and the internationality of the entrants, coming from the MINI and the OK-NJ, representing about 30 nations.

OK - Excellent numbers and new arrivals in this professional category.

Excellent numbers also in the international OK, the professional category and also a "launch pad" for many champions. There are over 70 registered drivers with many already experienced drivers competing at the highest levels in the most powerful direct-drive category, where the result here too is by no means a foregone conclusion, as happened in the last round in Sarno where the final result came in the last meters of the race. At the top of the standings is the Belgian Dries Van Langendonck with the Prema Racing team on KR-Iame-LeCont thanks to the second place he achieved in the last race. Among the protagonists of the category in Lonato is also the English champion Joe Turney, with the KR Motorsport team on KR-Iame, winner of the WSK Super Master Series of 2022 and WSK Final Cup 2022. But also the participation of the Swedish Viktor Gustafsson with CRG Racing Team, on CRG-TM Kart, stands out. In recent years he has been a regular competitor in the shifter category and already champion of the WSK Champions Cup of 2021 and in the same year third in the WSK Super Master Series.

KZ2 - Over 70 drivers in the shifter kart category.

Participation is becoming increasingly substantial also in KZ2, where in Lonato it peaks with 70 entries. Here, Cristian Bertuca is at the top of the championship with the BirelART Racing team on BirelART-TM Kart-Vega. He was the winner in the second round of Sarno at his debut in the championship. The Italian driver, already champion of the category in the WSK Super Master Series of the last two years, presents himself as the favorite, but the opponents able to challenge him are many and in greater numbers compared to the first two rounds. In short, even in the most powerful category, the show is certainly guaranteed.
