The FIA Karting World Championship for OK-OKJ, held in a single round at the PF International Kart Circuit in Brandon, is stingy with satisfaction for the Racing Team, after winning on the same circuit the previous week the race valid for the Champions of the Future Euro Series.
It is a race that ends with results below expectations, that of the Tony Kart Racing Team in Brandon, UK, for the single round of the FIA Karting World Championship OK-OKJ. At the PF International Kart Circuit, the inconstant weather conditions play a key role in the final outcome of the finals, in which their Tony Kart Racer 401 RR powered by Vortex, the “engine division” of OTK Kart Group, with the VTJ (Junior) and VTS (Senior) powerplants takes part.
In OKJ, Scott Marsh emerges as one of the main runners for the final victory, after his success, right on the PFI circuit, the previous week on the occasion of the last round of the Champions of the Future Euro Series. The British driver shines during the qualifying heats, where he scores three top-3 results, but a “zero” in the second scheduled heat ruins his path to the final. Despite the difficult conditions due to rain on Sunday and thanks to a positive fourth place in the Super Heats, Marsh is the author of a top performance in the final, a race in which he regains nine positions, coming close to the top-5.
On the occasion of his first attendance in the FIA Karting World Championship, Ilie Tristan Crisan ends a weekend always on the rise, with the third-best time in Group 5 of the qualifying practices and a total of three podiums in the qualifying heats. Augustus Toniolo, moving up 15 positions in the final, and Oliver Rasmussen, second fastest in his own free practice session on Friday morning, close the British trip with their heads held high.
Joel Pohjola, this season able of winning the second round of the Champions of the Future Euro Series in France and of finishing third in the third round of the FIA Karting European Championship in Slovakia, experiences an uphill weekend, thanks to an unlucky performance in the qualifyings. First valuable experience in the FIA Karting World Championship also for Thomas Pradier and Cole Denholm, in a competitive category that has about 120 drivers at the start.
In OK, David Walther is constantly at the top of the category, but critical weather conditions combined with several collisions on the track, lead to numerous retirements during the final, including the unlucky Danish driver’s one. For their driver, it is a bitter result, after having placed among the top ten in Saturday's intermediate ranking and having proved to be competitive already on Friday, obtaining the fastest lap in his own free practice session. Unfortunately, it is also a trip with few satisfactions for Xavier Avramides, Nash Blake, Tiziano Monza and Maria Germano Neto. Tom Leuillet and Gabriel Stilip are not attending the weekend's races due to injuries.
The Tony Kart Racing Team faces a two-week break before returning to the track at Portimao, Portugal, for the only round of the Champions of the Future (Sept. 25 - 28) reserved for the KZ, KZ2 and KZ2 Masters categories, and in Sarno, Italy, for the second round of the WSK Euro Series, scheduled on the same weekend.
