Victory and podiums for Tony Kart in Franciacorta

In the third round of the WSK Super Master Series, there were excellent performances in all categories for the Racing Team. The Racer 401 RR hit the success in the category KZ2 with Tom Leuillet. In the MINI categories, the Rookie chassis had two podiums thanks to Leonardo Gorski and Achille Rea. Sebastiano Pavan, in OK, was involved in an accident that compromised his race while he was fighting for victory.

The Tony Kart Racing Team was back on the highest step of the podium, in the third round of the WSK Super Master Series. In Franciacorta, their Tony Kart Racer 401 RR powered by the engine Vortex VTZ won the final in the KZ2 category, as well as showing off in the OK and OKJ categories respectively with the units VTS and VTJ of the “engine division” of OTK Kart Group. Furthermore, their Tony Kart Rookie, powered by the engine Vortex VTM, took two podiums in the categories MINI Gr.3 and MINI Gr.3 U10.

In KZ2, Tom Leuillet was the best driver in class starting from Friday. The French driver got the best time in group 2 of the qualifying practices and continued his weekend with four victories and two fastest laps in the subsequent four qualifying heats. After a first-place result in the warm-up on Sunday morning and a fourth position in the prefinal A, Leuillet was one of the top candidates for victory in the afternoon final. Leuillet started from the pole position in the main final and drove a very strong race to give the Tony Kart Racing Team its first success of the season. At the moment, still with one more race meeting in the race series, Leuillet is in third place in the championship ranking. At the debut with their official colours, Genis Civico constantly improved his results in the qualifying heats and closed the Franciacorta event with a Top 10 in the prefinal B and a Top 15 in the final. Marijn Kremers registered a fast lap in the qualifying heats and arrived among the first ten in the prefinal A, while Francesco Celenta was forced to withdraw in the final after two results in the Top 10 in the qualifying heats. Nicola Rossini continues the work together with their staff for the next scheduled rounds.

In the MINI Gr.3, Leonardo Gorski conquests the first podium in the category after a good day on Friday and Saturday. The Polish driver finished the two qualifying heats in second and third place, obtaining the second position in the intermediate ranking and getting the fastest lap in the prefinal B. In the final, Gorski fought against his rivals for the top positions and crossed the finish line in third place. Oliver Sini achieved a decent result in Franciacorta, by getting the fastest lap qualifying heats and he finished the final among the best fifteen drivers.

In the MINI Gr.3 U10, a podium was achieved thanks to the great performance of the young Achille Rea. The Italian driver arrived finished at the end of the qualifying practices, where he won a qualifying heat and took third place in the prefinal A. In the main final on Sunday afternoon, Rea gained the lead during the first lap and, for the entire race, he fought for the victory: at the end, he finished third across the finish line. There was an excellent comeback of 11 positions for Henri Kumpen in the final, he finished fourth in prefinal A and gained 26 positions in the intermediate ranking (among qualifying practices and qualifying heats). Tiberius Müller got the best lap in the prefinal A, but this was not enough for the German driver to participate in the final.

In OK, Sebastiano Pavan is the protagonist in qualifying with the best time in the first group of the qualifying practices on Friday. The Italian driver got two victories and a second place in the qualifying heats besides success in the prefinal A; these results gave him first place on the starting grid of the main final. In the final race on Sunday afternoon, Pavan took the lead of the race from the start, but on the 13th lap, he was involved in an accident with another driver. Pavan restarted and finished among the top ten drivers. In the Top 10 was also David Walther – who was the driver who got a second place in the prefinal A, twice on the podium in the qualifying heats and in the fastest third in group 1 of the qualifying practices – and Tiziano Monza, third in the prefinal A and at the top in his warm-up session on Sunday morning. In the final Thomas Quince, who gained 17 positions in the qualifying practices and qualifying heats, and Xavier Avramides, finished to get a Top 5 in the prefinal B. Xiaoyu Sun continues to learn at his second appearance in the senior category.

In OKJ, Ilie Tristan Crisan achieved third place in group 2 of the qualifying practices and got second place as the best result in the qualifying heats, he was the first classified among their official drivers in the final on Sunday. Scott Kin Lindblom achieved great results in the heats, and he was first in his warm-up session on Saturday morning. The Swedish driver was involved in an accident in the prefinal B and had to withdraw because of the accident, because of this he didn't get a great result in the final. Scott Marsh finished twice in the Top 5 in the heats, but he withdrew from the final with one lap to go. After second place in the prefinal B, Sebastian Lehtimaki withdrew in the final, as well as his teammate and compatriot Joel Pohjola, driver of a third place in the qualifying heats. Maria Germano Neto started in the final with their team together with all the Junior drivers in the race on Sunday.

The fourth and last round of the WSK Super Master Series is scheduled in two weeks (29 February – 3 March) in Sarno. The Tony Kart Racing Team will go on track in the categories KZ2, OK, OKJ, MINI Gr.3 and MINI Gr.3 U10.
