Red Bull Racing have signed German FIA F3 ace Oliver Goethe to their young driver programme.
Goethe follows in the footsteps of the likes of Sebastian Vettel, Max Verstappen, Carlos Sainz Jr., and Daniel Ricciardo, all of whom graduated to Formula 1 from the 6-time world champion team’s talent roster.
Oliver made his single-seater breakthrough in 2022 when he won the Euroformula Open title. In 2023 he graduated to FIA Formula 3, claiming a sensational podium finish in the first race weekend of the season in Bahrain. Another highlight of his rookie season came at Silverstone where he claimed his maiden win in the Feature race.
The young German’s performance caught Red Bull Racing’s attention and the F1 team approached him, inviting Oliver to the Red Bull Racing HQ in Milton Keynes, followed by a visit to the heart of the Red Bull empire in Graz where he sealed the deal.
Oliver Goethe:
“I am proud and excited to join the Red Bull Junior team. They are a force to be reckoned with, breaking record after record. It hit me when I visited Milton Keynes and was faced with the wall of trophies from the floor to the ceiling. I realised then that I am about to become part of something very special. I grew up watching Sebastian Vettel winning races and championships in the Red Bull car, and as a German driver, I am proud to follow in his footsteps. Being part of an F1 team can provide me with priceless opportunities and open the door to the dream I’ve been working towards and there’s no better team to do it with.”
Oliver’s first race in Red Bull colours will be the most iconic F3 race in the world, as he makes his debut at the 70th Macau Grand Prix this weekend.
