The 2019 season of FIA Karting Championships, Cups and Trophies were organised over ten Competitions involving six categories in six European countries, Germany, Belgium, Finland, France, Italy and Sweden.
Promotion
RGMMC Group successfully completed the second of its three years as Promoter of the FIA Karting, except for the Endurance and Superkart Championships.
Calendar of events
The 2019 FIA Karting sporting calendar was approved on 30th October 2018 by the FIA World Motor Sport Council, following a similar scheme to that of 2018. The FIA Karting European Championship - OK and the FIA Karting European Championship - Junior were held together over four Competitions. The FIA Karting - KZ European Championship and the FIA Karting European Championship - KZ2 were held during two joint Competitions. The FIA Karting Academy Trophy kept its three dates. The World Championships have been held in single Competitions since 2014.
Alahärmä (FIN) and Lonato (ITA) each hosted a World Championship, respectively 17 years and 23 years after the last World Competition held on their circuit. Le Mans (FRA) appeared on the calendar three times, twice with the International Karting Circuit for the last FIA Karting European Championship - OK & Junior Competition and for the FIA Karting Endurance Championship, then the third time on the Bugatti Circuit for the FIA Karting European Championship - Superkart.
Entries
The number of participants was essentially the same as in 2018. The OK category did not beat last year's record but was close to it. The OK-Junior category is also doing very well with steadily higher figures over the last three years, slightly increasing this season. The KZ field reached an exceptional level during the World Championship (+50%), while the KZ2 field saw a significant increase during the International Super Cup, two Competitions that were held simultaneously in Lonato.
It was the Lonato Competition that brought together the largest number of Drivers (215 in three categories), followed by Alahärmä with 192 Drivers (for two categories). The average for the season was 160 participants per Competition.
