As in 2023, the FIA Karting prize-giving ceremony took place in Nice, France, on Saturday 7th December at the Hyatt Regency Palais de la Méditerranée. The karts of the three World Champions were displayed to the guests.
CIK-FIA President Akbar Ebrahim opened the awards ceremony with a speech reviewing the key points of the season. He began by praising the efforts of the organisers, host ASNs and volunteers in delivering top-quality events, as well as the impressive levels of participation and support from the teams and manufacturers. The strong involvement of partners, service providers and equipment suppliers also contributed to the success of the season.
Alberto Villarreal, FIA General Manager, honoured the evening with his presence and took the floor to confirm the place of karting within the FIA.
Figures for the season
- 968 entries were registered in all FIA Karting Championships in 2024.
- 671 individual drivers took part in all FIA Karting Championships.
- 78 nationalities were represented.
The biggest event was the World Championship for non-gearbox categories in the United Kingdom with 262 participants in three categories, representing 59 nationalities.
The three 2024 FIA Karting World Champions were honoured in front of their peers. Italy's Giuseppe Palomba, who won in KZ, Great Britain's Ethan Jeff-Hall in OK and Kenzo Craigie in Junior were in the spotlight. The five European Champions, Joe Turney (GBR) in OK, Dries van Langendonck (BEL) in Junior, Lorenzo Travisanutto (ITA) in KZ, Matteo Spirgel (FRA) in KZ2 and Riccardo Nalon (ITA) in KZ2 Masters then received their trophies. The winner of the KZ2 World Cup, Cristian Bertuca (ITA), the winner of the KZ2 Masters International Super Cup, Anthony Abbasse (FRA), and the top three finishers in the FIA Karting Academy Trophy: Gilles Herman (BEL), Dan Allemann (CHE) and Jakub Gasparovic (SVK) were also presented with their trophies
The IKR Driver of the Year was Belgian Dries van Langendonck with the best score against more than 1,200 competitors in the FIA International Karting Ranking. The FIA Karting Teams Championships went to KR Motorsport (ITA) in OK, Ricky Flynn Motorsport (GBR) in Junior, Sodikart in KZ, and Birel ART Racing in KZ2.
The Trophy for the Best Event of the 2024 FIA Karting Championship season was awarded to Kartodromo Val Vibrata for its excellent organisation of the second round of the Mondokart.com FIA Karting European Championship - KZ, KZ2 and KZ2 Masters.
During the ceremony, the guests voted for the best photo of 2024 after appreciating the quality of the six photos selected. The Spaniard Rodriguez Eduardo Cartaña won the 17th FIA Karting International Photo contest.
