Today, it has been announced that 16-year-old female racer, Aurelia Nobels, will join PREMA’s Italian Formula 4 driver line-up for 2023 as an Iron Dame.
The Brazilian racer made her single-seat debut in the Brazilian Formula 4 championship, as well as gaining valuable experience in selected rounds of the Spanish and Danish Formula 4 championships last season. Following good results, she was crowned the winner of FIA Girls on Track – Rising Stars towards the end of the year and subsequently joined the Ferrari Driver Academy (FDA).
In 2023, Aurelia will be racing PREMA’s car in the Italian Formula 4 championship, which will kick off in May at Imola.
Commenting on the announcement, Iron Dames Project Founder, Deborah Mayer, said: “I am extremely happy for Aurelia. Within the PREMA Racing team, she will be in the best conditions to develop her talent towards a professional career.
“I also have great satisfaction and pride seeing another Iron Dame stepping into Formula racing. On behalf of the project, I am pleased to continue our partnership with the FIA Women in Motorsport Commission and FDA in supporting the third female racer in their first season in Italian Formula 4. This demonstrates that the programme, and its long-term partnerships, is providing brilliant opportunities to bring even more women into motorsport.”
Aurelia Nobels said: “First of all, I am very happy to join PREMA in 2023 as an Iron Dame, to compete in the Italian Formula 4 Championship, one of the most competitive single-seater series in the world. It will not be easy, but I am very excited to take on this challenge, work hard and improve my skills.
“I cannot wait to meet everybody in the team and start working together and I want to thank the team and Iron Dames for having helped me to reach such a big step in my career. My thanks also go to the FIA and its Women in Motorsport commission, whose Girls on Track – Rising Stars programme made this dream possible!"
