Bas Kaligis / Thursday, February 22, 2018 / Categories: International Winter Cup - Lonato: Baby Race climbs learning curve It's been a learning weekend for the Baby Race Team at Lonato in the traditional Winter Cup. Lining-up in the Mini Rok, OKJ and KZ categories, Sandro Lorandi's team recorded the 11th and 12th place as the best results in OKJ, scored by Nikita Bedrin and Alexey Brizhan respectively. In the same class Diego Contecha barely missed the final after a stellar Pre-Final saw him recover 15 places up to P10. Unfortunately he paid the price of bad luck in the heats. Enzo Scionti, at the first season with Baby Race, Ignacio Montenegro and Ksenia Phoenix did not make it through the heats. In Mini Rok, only Irfan Coskun reached the Final after a good fifth place in the Pre Final. After running 8th early, he finished 13th. Christian Ho, Francesco Lorandi, Rafael Modonese, Patrick Fraboni and Edgardo Gereda didn't get past the Pre Final. KZ featured brothers Alessio and Leonardo Lorandi, both currently running in single seaters, in GP3 and F4 respectively. They starred in qualifying, with Leonardo securing the first pole and Alessio second on a total of 94 drivers, before impressing in the heats. Then, Leonardo ended up P2 in his Pre Final while Alessio retired. In the Final, Leonardo started badly and on the 4th lap retired due to contact. Alessio recovered well from the back up to P15.
