Winfield Racing School and ELF reunited!

Winfield Racing School and ELF are delighted to announce the re-kindling of their legendary partnership, which spanned two decades from 1973 onwards.

The relationship helped to discover some of the greatest drivers in motorsport history, including four-time Formula 1 champion Alain Prost, 1996 champion Damon Hill and 28 other F1 drivers, including 10 Grand Prix winners. For several years, thousands of aspiring racing drivers travelled from all over in an attempt to win the coveted ELF Scholarship, which acted as a gateway to a career in motorsport.

Winfield Racing School celebrates the 60th anniversary of its creation in 2024, and is reuniting with ELF as its official supplier of lubricants and fuel to the school based at Circuit Paul Ricard. The new partnership has already been in action, with ELF’s Racing 333 fuel powering the school’s Formula 4 cars for the first F4 Training Camp of the 2024 season. This first step towards using renewable fuels displays Winfield’s commitment to a more sustainable future, while also being the first time such a racing school has turned to more eco-friendly fuels.

Frédéric Garcia, Winfield Group Managing Director

“It’s amazing to be reuniting with ELF! Ever since we relaunched Winfield Racing School in 2016, we’ve dreamed of re-kindling the legendary alliance that carried the hopes of so many young racing drivers. For us, it’s not just a supplier who we are teaming up with, but a welcome back to the family. Both companies have changed hugely in over the last 30 years, but the same expertise remains. Our mission is still to develop talented racers, and to see ELF, via its lubricants and fuels once again associated with Winfield is an important mark of recognition. We’re delighted to have already been using ELF’s renewable Racing 333 fuel, becoming the first racing school in the world to power our cars in such a way. Now that we’ve got the ball rolling, we’ve got another long adventure ahead of us!”

Olivier Borgotti, ELF Business Unit Managing Director

“We’re delighted to be restarting a story that ended in 1994, but never left our memories. Supporting Winfield Racing School in training the champions of tomorrow is a huge honour, and we share their desire to help talented young drivers on their path to a successful career in motorsport. Like Winfield, we have stayed true to our fundamental values, we put passion and all our expertise into every single one of our projects to make every drive a pleasurable experience.

We’re confident that the technology in our racing products will help the school to continue its progress and we are proud that Winfield has become the first racing school to opt for a renewable fuel, further strengthening the meaning and value of our partnership, which is fully geared towards the future.”
