Victory to Maranello Kart and Iacovacci in the Italian ACI Karting Championship at Adria
Iacovacci won the second final of the Adria’s weekend in KZ2 after coming fifth in qualifying and eighth in the first final at the end of a good comeback race. Bizzozero hit by bad luck and DNF both races. Maranello Kart and Francesco Iacovacci claimed a good win in KZ2 at the fourth round of the Italian ACI Karting Championship in Adria. This round has been one of the toughest of the season so far due to the changing weather conditions and temperatures switching from very hot to torrential rain.
Francesco Iacovacci and team SG Race managed brilliantly the situation and secured an unquestionable win in the second final, after being among the main protagonists of the KZ2 weekend in Adria. Gabrio Bizzozero also defended Maranello Kart’s colours, but the Swiss driver did not manage to put in a good time in qualifying, bounced back in the heats before being eventually forced to retire from both finals.
Iacovacci’s performance has been great since qualifying practice when he posted the fifth quickest time, despite the very hot track temperatures that reached up to 60 degrees Celsius. “Qualy went fairly well – Iacovacci stated right after posting the fifth overall time – and we managed to fill the gap we had from the quickest in practice. The fifth time is not too bad, I am positive for the heats, we will try and climb up as much as possible to get a good starting position for the final.”
After a promising sixth place in the first heat, Iacovacci had to retire due to a problem in the soaking wet second heat, which relegated him to the starting P14 in race-1. Iacovacci completed his masterpiece on the wet in race-1 though recovering up to P8, which earned him a pole position start for race-2 due to the top eight grid inversion. Maranello Kart’s driver has then a clean run to the victory in race-2 thanks to an unmatchable race pace despite the slippery tarmac. Iacovacci secured the win leading his nearest rival by 7s. This result confirmed his third place in the classification.
“It has been a nice win. I needed it as I left some points behind in the previous round in Sarno – a radiant Iacovacci declared soon after the podium ceremony in Adria – I am happy because the result arrived, eventually. I would like to thank SG Race, Rizzi for the engines, Stefano Griggio and Maranello Kart because they believe in me and provided me with great material.”
The classification of the Italian Championship: 1. Cunati points 161; 2. Palomba 131; 3. Iacovacci 120; 4. Marseglia 100; 5. De Marco 82.
The next round of the Italian ACI Karting Championship is the closer in Val Vibrata next September 1st.
